EXODUS Reveal Special Guests on New Album BLOOD IN, BLOOD OUT

• Special Guest Appearances Include Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Chuck Billy (Testament), and Dan the Automator (Gorillaz, Mike Patton) •

• New studio album due out October 14th via Nuclear Blast •

• VIP Packages available for fall tour with SLAYER and Special Guests SUICIDAL TENDENCIES •

Bay Area thrash metal provocateurs EXODUS proudly announce the special guests appearing on their latest showcase of unrefined rage Blood In, Blood Out, the band’s tenth studio album due out on October 14th in North America.

Crafting an industrial sound bed on the intro to the album opener “Black 13” is electronic music producer Dan the Automator (GORILLAZ, MIKE PATTON, DELTRON 3030).

“We ran into each other a couple times,” shares EXODUS guitarist & songwriter Gary Holt. “I knew what I wanted to hear and I knew he could do it, and could do it that day. So we sent him a file with the drums and guitars we already had there and just told him to go crazy with it.”

TESTAMENT frontman Chuck Billy lends his signature roar to the track “BTK,” one of the first songs recorded by returning vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza, who recently said, “Chuck and I have known each other forever. We work really well together, we know each other really well. So if I’m doing my vocals and he’s there, I can trust him to go ‘No way Zet, doesn’t sound good like that. Do it like this,’ or ‘Yeah that’s killer.’ If he says it sounds killer, I know it is.”
Original Exodus guitarist Kirk Hammett (METALLICA) contributed a solo to “Salt The Wound.”

“This was actually the first time Kirk got to play on an official EXODUS release,” states Holt. “He did the early demo, and then joined Metallica and didn’t do anything with us after that. So he was totally gung-ho about it. He came down and ripped out a bunch of takes and we picked the best one and then had a barbecue and drank beer.”

“It felt really casual, really cool – just like it did back in 1980 when we were all just hanging out back in the day,” Hammett confessed to RollingStone.com in July.

Produced by Andy Sneap (ACCEPT, KREATOR, MEGADETH), Blood In Blood Out features cover illustration by Swedish artist Par Olofsson (PSYCROPTIC, ABYSMAL DAWN, REVOCATION).

The album can be pre-ordered from the Nuclear Blast USA Webshop in CD, digi-pak, 2-LP exclusive yellow vinyl, and imported limited edition boxset formats. Bundles include a t-shirt with exclusive artwork for North America + a poster (while supplies last).

ABOUT EXODUS
With a career spanning 34 years, EXODUS have not only helped shape and define the thrash metal genre for over three decades, but continually seek to raise its standards. One of the forefathers of the Bay Area scene that became known and envied throughout the world, the band’s 1985 debut album, Bonded By Blood, has since become a legacy album featuring mandatory live staples such as "Strike Of The Beast," "A Lesson In Violence," and the album’s title track. Formed in 1980, the band’s original members included Tom Hunting on drums, Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Tim Agnello on guitars, and Carlton Melson on bass. With a line-up that has evolved throughout the years, the current incarnation of EXODUS charges into the future with returning frontman Steve “Zetro” Souza on vocals, Gary Holt and Lee Altus on guitars, Tom Hunting on drums, and Jack Gibson on bass. In 2014, EXODUS closed the first half of the year with stellar performances at Kirk Hammett’s Fear FestEvil and Rock On The Range, as well as a groundbreaking tour with fellow thrash legends Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies. To date, EXODUS has released nine studio albums, two live albums, and one compilation. Their most recent release, Exhibit B: The Human Condition, debuted in the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in 2010.

I really wish Exodus would go away already.

Even their classic albums were decent at best. There were a hundred 80's thrash bands more deserving of recognition/record sales than these jokers.

I think the first two albums were solid. Fabulous Disaster and Impact is Imminent were both kind of a mixed bag. Some really good songs, some ok songs, and some crappy ones. I haven't really liked anything they've done since then with the exception of a few songs.

Plus... what possessed them to think re-recording Bonded by Blood was a good idea? It's already five years after the fact and that still blows my mind.

I'm totally fine with bands doing albums in entirety for live DVDs(like what Megadeth did with Rust in Peace for the 20th anniversary, what Opeth did with Blackwater Park for the 10th anniversary, etc.) but rerecording entire albums decades later?

Ugh. I can't think of any instance where that was ever a good idea.

Yeah in 2009, I saw Twisted Sister do Stay Hungry in its entirety for the 25th anniversary of its release. It's an awesome thing to experience in a live setting because you know they'll most likely never do it again. Although if I remember correctly, Megadeth did kind of milk the Rust in Peace thing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure they did that tour more than once.

Pretty sure Megadeth did multiple runs for Rust in Peace, but they kept it all in 2010. If my memory is correct, the last shows of the album in entirety were in January 2011 or whatever.

Albums in entirety live can either be amazing or horrible. When I saw Primus and they ended up doing their fucking horrible album from 2011 in entirety, I was so pissed to have spent 60 bucks to see them. The worst part was they hadn't even announced that they would be doing that on the tour, so it was a surprise. If I had known, I wouldn't have went.

But if you love an album, seeing it from start to finish live is great.

The new/old drummer is what ruined the re-record of Bonded By Blood.
