The setlist from tonight in Atlanta:
Rapture
Pain Divine
World of Shit (The Promised Land)
Vengeance Is Mine
The Lion's Den
Blood on My Hands
Angel of Disease
Sworn to the Black
Nar Mattaru
God of Emptiness
ENCORE:
Where the Slime Live
Bil Ur-Sag
Ageless, Still I Am
UNKNOWN SONG*
Curse the Flesh
Existo Vulgoré
Immortal Rites
Fall from Grace
18 song set, not too bad. And no Vital Remains, so hopefully that means Morbid Angel's setlist won't be cut 40 minutes short like it did in Worcester. Ugh.
* = my friend is pretty sure the song was off Altars of Madness, but couldn't tell which song it was because the venue's soundquality was shit.
ENCORE:
Where the Slime Live
Bil Ur-Sag
Ageless, Still I Am
UNKNOWN SONG*
Curse the Flesh
Existo Vulgoré
Immortal Rites
Fall from Grace
Thumbs down encore selections. Gateways and everything after sucked. And if they're going to play something off Domination play Dominate and let me punch a hole in the wall out onto Mass Ave.

Agreed.
Also, If they're gonna go back to Blessed Are The Sick, they should play Brainstorm. Best song on the album.

At least they played material off Formulas and Gateways, and yes, I love the first two Tucker albums.
Guy's I'm sorry about this. I took a smoke break and he wandered in here.
That's a very nice random fact Mr. Dwyer. Let's get you back to scrapbooking and you can tell me allll about Malevolent Creation at the Channel... again.
Wasn't sure what to expect but Morbid Angel killed. I was skeptical about anyone but Pete Sandoval playing drums, but Fall from Grace (maybe the hardest drum song of the whole set) sounded amazing at the very end of the set. The set list was the exact same one Spence posted. All the songs that I knew would be good were, and all the ones I knew would suck did. Where the Slime Live crushed.
Some crowd observations:
- A hearty chuckle at everyone who felt compelled to chant "MOR-BID MOR-BID" the name of a completely different band just for the sake of having something 2 syllables to chant. Cool party metal life.
- Dave Vincent, for a guy who grew up in Tampa Florida, somehow developed mannerisms like a villain from Xena Warrior Princess.
- Saw several of my all time favorite metal crowd move: the guy who talks during an entire song or just isn't paying attention, but races to stop his conversation and switch his drink into his non-horns hand so he can throw horns and yell at the end of the song with everyone else.
- The guy in front of the stage that kept holding up his brand new Morbid Angel shirt like it was a homemade banner. "Look Dave, I don't have the $30 I walked in with!"
- Saw a guy at Veggie Galaxy with a Dark Throne long sleeve and JNCOs

Real talk, BTW: tenderest, gentlest pit I have ever seen at the Middle East. you could have walked a brace of Chihuahua puppies through the middle and come put the other end relatively assured of their safety. step it up, Boston.

Morbid Angel is probably one of the most overrated bands in metal for the younger audiences.
Just because they have been around for a long time, largely one of the main pioneers, why do so many younger folks dig them so much if they weren't even there for when it made much more sense to like them
Have only heard 2-3 slightly above average songs by them and I've heard all their material. Most of their riffs are bland, repetitive and overall boring.
Yeah on second thought you're right. Altars of Madness sucked. Blessed are the Sick sucked. Covenant was the biggest piece of crap I've ever heard.
We should all thank god that Soilwork came along to save us all from terrible music.

Overrated by who, exactly? You ever notice that whenever somebody hauls out the "blah blah blah is overrated" shtick, they're always real fuzzy on just who is doing this rating, and why they're rating it over?
I saw em 4 times on the actual Covenant tour. They sounded great at the Middle East. I didnt even stay for the whole show. I knew in advance what the setlist was gonna be. I saw my fave songs and split. Great night
