In prior years, there's always been at least one band I sorta considered going for. This year does not meet that bare minimum threshold.

Lineup is weak...I do love this new trend of bands playing albums in their entirety live. if its an album you love, you know the show you're going to is gonna be awesome...slayer/megadeth doing this a few years ago was awesome

I'd go for stratovarius, and orden ogan is the best newer power metal out there if you like that style.

I'd show you a few solid moments, Spence

I love remedy lane, but they should've called everything after it remedy lame. Pain of salvation has sucked for quite a few albums now. If this happened right after remedy lane came out, I'd be all over it.

Leprous is amazing. I might go just for them

September 9th-13th are the dates.

THURSDAY roster:

Pagan's Mind performing "Celestial Entrance" in its entirety (Norway)
DGM (Italy)
Draekon (US)

I'm probably likely to do this if I can afford it, cause I love this shit.

Friday/Saturday tickets are already sold out. Thursday will likely sell out, because of that two and a half hour Pagan's Mind set. I can't see Wednesday selling out, unless more bands are added to it.

Both Leprous and Pain of Salvation just announced full north america tours to go along with progpower, for those interested. PoS are doing Remedy Lane in entirety at Progpower, so they'll likely to do most if not all of it on the other dates as well.

Wish leprous would play around here, they were pretty good live.

toggletoggle post by spence at Jul 12,2014 10:58pm
When/where did you see them? I guess NYC is always an option if you get desperate enough.

toggletoggle post by Alx_Casket  at Jul 13,2014 12:38am
Brutal assault last year when they opened for Ihsahn. They were good but I wouldn't nyc for them.

Leaving at 5 AM for this, roadtripping down.

Very pumped for Jon Olivia's Pain doing an all Savatage set, Stratovarius, Pagan's Mind, Seventh Wonder, Pain of Salvation doing all of Remedy Lane, Leprous, etc.

toggletoggle post by hahaha at Sep 9,2014 7:13am
Leprous? Might as well listen to Coldplay while fucking Ihsahn.

left Central MA at about 5 AM, got to our hotel in Atlanta at like 3:30 AM.

People who say roadtrips to MDF are "hard" are pussies.

Vangough are decent, but kind of were forgettable. Their vocalist sounded like a killer mix of Daniel Gildenlöw, Russel Allen and James Hetfield.

Theocracy are fun, at least. Awesome solos, basslines, vocals, etc. "Generic power metal" but whatever, I love that shit.

Pain of Salvation was mindblowing. Their entire performance was improv. No setlist, just whatever the fuck they felt like doing. Played most of Perfect Element, randomly covered Love Gun by Kiss, switched instruments with each other mid-set, hilarious banter, etc.

If you are AT ALL into Pain of Salvation, be sure to catch their Boston show on the 17th.

Pagan's Mind tonight - two and a half hour set, Celestial Entrance in entirety, shooting a DVD. Going to be fucking incredible.

Fest was fucking killer, very awesome. Only a few disappointing acts.

If anyone is curious about how a specific band(s) were, let me know and i'll tell you. Otherwise, i'm not going to wall of text describe the fest cause I know most of you don't care haha.

Although I will leave this here: (Jon's voice is a bit shot, but he's old as dirt and he played for 2.5 hours so I forgive him)
