New site? Maybe some day.
If someone was curious about what grindcore bands are worth the precious hour of time to listen in-depth, what bands should be mentioned?
Does grindcore even exist, or did it get swallowed by power violence and die like sperm in stomach acid? |
the new Rotten Sound ep is killer |
Everything both sucks, and is awesome simultaneously, always, and never |
I don't like "grindcore" as a term or a genre, but if I had to recommend something representative I'd say Insect Warfare, and the second Napalm Death album is pretty standard.
Most fans of "grindcore" are annoying faggots with no taste, but there are a few bands who are above the typical garbage. |
Insect Warfare - World Extermination
Repulsion - Horrified
Carcass - Symphonies of Sickness (If you like your grind liberally mixed with death)
Machetazo - Mundo Cripta (really good death/grindcore)
Nasum of Course. The first LP one is really good, but its their third LP - "Helvete"- that always jumps to the front for me.
Brutal Truth - Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses
Here's another Grind LP with Death Metal mixed in. Really fucking good.
IMPETIGO! |
Lamp was pretty spot on in his first post...early ND, Assuck and Terrorizer...that's grind IMO. |
And brutal truth fo sho.
A lot of the other stuff is goregrind, not grindcore.
Impetigo, Repulsion, and Carcass are all straight death metal in my eyes, not grind. But I do like them all. I also like Gride, but they are very fastcore influenced. |
discordance axis
hatred surge
bathtub shitter
mortalized
insect warfare |
cripple bastards
voilent headache
excreated alive
MDFL(just saw them at the munch in pvd)
Old napalm death(duh)
dahmer
anarchus
the list could go on
so much filler and not enough killer in current grind core id say though all the bands like toad and others comming out of CT are killing it! |
old gride is grind core. go backwards in the disco. its gets more grind |

what a good sentence. i like this poster. |

You gotta get yourself tuned into more of what's going on in the midwest, man. Ohio and Michigan in particular. |
I feel like there's more killer then filler, but then again I have yet to find a grind band I haven't loved (yeah yeah I love everything yeah yeah). |
yea mdfl def got my attention. TOAD was fuckin awsome at munch too! i know there is good shit out there, but for the most part shit dont impress me much im picky i know. not saying the stuff i dont like is shit. Been on a huge dbeat noise punk kick too so that may be a factor as well. If you see me at prov shows come say hey and chat some grind with me! im always up to know whats good these days, like i said i have been into alot of jap noise core/punk that band asocial terror fabracation is fuckin awsome btw. very early sore throat meets gore beyond necropsy! |
Hint: there will be more midwest grind at Munch in early August, just waiting on another band to confirm before I make it public, come say what's up! |
good to know for me too! I'm always down for a good grind show! |
You should come say what's up too! Especially because to my knowledge there's no MA date... |
I love grind, but what's with the hatred of Powerviolence?
Spazz, Lack of Interest, Drunken Orgy of Destruction, Infest, fucking excellent bands!
As far as grind bands not yet mentioned that are really worth listening to. (i'm not doing sub-categories, so there will be goregrind, porngrind and deathgrind in the mix)
Catheter, Unholy Grave, Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition, Gut, Gronibard, Suffer Now, and Flesh Parade.
@Lamp - Carcass first two albums are definitely goregrind, but they did become a death metal band. |
That's right. My band fucking rules. |
I really hope you're serious. Suffer Now is excellent!!! |
powerviolence is meant to be hated, and man i fuckin' hate it. but that's neither here nor there. i like nasum-style grind, but that's me coming from a traditional metal/death metal entry point. maybe 'cause i never was a hardcore or punk kid, never caught that bug. |
That makes sense. I grew up on a pretty even mix of metal and punk. |
But then again there's bands out there like His Hero Is Gone who i think are fucking brilliant, but that's not really grind or pv, so yeah. |
Powerviolence was also a thing that happened for like a year or two in one or two cities, so it's kind of a loving tribute at this point. |
It did save fast hardcore from the posi kids for a while, so there's that. |

I basically just viewed this as a thread for recommending what I consider to be the most essential things to someone new to the genre (though I don't think OP is new to the genre) and when I do that I only recommend the genre in its purest form. Goregrind comes later. |

Fair enough |
Yes, I have a new 24-track. Although I only need one track this will be happening. As of now the title is:
The Fathers of Bludgeoncore (Shemp is Dead) |
Whoa... 50 percent. Well, I don't think I can afford more than 35. |
