Have it narrowed down to the Peavey Valveking 100 watt 212 or the Peavey Ultra 60 watt 212. I'm leaning towards the Ultra (one more preamp tube, less wattage, 'better construction' (?)) but was wondering what you guys would do.

Never got a great tone out of my buddies valveking halfstack.

Haven't played an ultra, but have heard good things.

what makes you want lower wattage? one more preamp tube isnt necessarily a plus or a minus.

but between the two i'd go for the ultra. unless you need more volume/headroom.

my buddy moded a valveking and made it sound pretty sick, in case you wanted to go that route some time.

I don't need to be blowing the doors off the barn any time soon, so the 60 watts would be nicer.
