some of these i don't remember at all, and some i haven't thought about since i had them. i still have one Army Ant.

I remember Sectaurs. They were actually pretty cool-- I had a dude that rode a big spider thing and the spider was a puppet. Fun to torment cats with.

LOL @ food fighters.
I remember some of these. 80s action figures ruled.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Dec 13,2012 9:01am
Don't fuck around. Super Naturals were grim as hell. The marketing was all wrong though. They could have very easily created an animated series or something to base them off of. You're only going to sell so many anonymous characters to imagination-less kids.

Legos > all other toys.

I forgot all about Sectaurs. I had all of those Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos. I also had all of the Karate Kid and Rambo figures. The B movie violence that was my play time in the 1980's is crazy compared to kids today.

toggletoggle post by Richard Hertz at Dec 13,2012 9:15am
Yes! 80's violence was/is far cooler than any millennial faggotry.

This thread just reminded me if I ever get some disposable cash I'm gonna collect all of the Visionaries. Those guys were so rad.

toggletoggle post by MikeOv at Dec 13,2012 9:47am
Inhumanoids, YES.

The three creature action figures were definitely pretty popular but with Earth Corps could totally fuck off.

I used to snap the head off of my Metlar action figure all of the time and my dad used to have to glue it back on. D'compose ruled because I could hold my G.I. Joe's captive behind his rib cages and then of course there was Tendril. His character was inspired by Cthulhu, so that alone should speak volumes for how awesome these action figures were.

The T.V. series was pretty violent and touched upon some pretty thought provoking subjects for being a kids series, such as politics, biology, and ancient civilizations.

it isn't mentioned in the article, but did anyone ever have a boglin? I still have a mini boglin at home that my kid likes to play with.

i had both. skeletor's cat had a velvet-like texture. there's a video my uncle took of xmas at my house back in 85 or 86 and i was happy as fuck to get skeletor's kitty as i called it.

Waaaay cooler than that - Panthor was Battle Cat but ENSCONCED IN PURPLE VELVET. He was like the Huggy Bear of action-less-ness figures. Skeletor was a straight pimp.

Oh, man.

Rock Lords - "yeah, let's combine the fun action of GoBots with... a rock." I had a few.

Inhumanoids - YES. Shit ruled. What's funny is I'm just now realizing how much the character designs were inspired by Jack Kirby's Celestials.

Super Naturals - soooooo awesome. I loved the little ghost-y guys. Had the lion guy, too. For runner-up hologram toys, though, anybody remember Visionaries?

one of my all-time faves was Sky Commanders. They all had these nylon zipline things that they slid down, the tv show had them fighting over some big crazy canyon all the time, but in reality you just strung them all across the living room and your mom wouldn't be able to get to the bathroom and she mad.

Can we talk about Captain Power for a minute? It was a sub par TV show that seemed like it came out of nowhere, had the coolest toys including a spaceship that you could fire like a gun that somehow interacted with the show and then just disappeared as quickly as it came?

The most infuriating part is that no matter which store you went to they always seemed to only carry the shitty boring characters' action figures. I once and once only spotted the awesome robot bad guy with the tracks for legs. It spawned a fist fight between my younger brother and I that would have made ECW fans squeamish.

YES!!! I still have a bunch of the big rubber ones at my mothers house. I broke the ring though.

i still have the penguin battle beast, though the hologram doesn't work anymore. these were also favorites of mine, and i had this which was essentially a torture chamber.

Micro Machines are second only to Legos in my eyes. i still have a box of about 200 or so, and my mother still has one of the mini-Micro Machines. they released so many awesome sets that were never advertised for amazing movies. i have the whole Indiana Jones set, as well as a few Predator ones, and there is also a full T2 set. i have most of the Star Wars figures and some ships, as well as a few random Star Trek ones. i think my cousin still has a few of the playsets made to look like car parts like a distributor cap. i actually have Micro Machine Storm Troopers on my desk at work. BEST. NON-LEGO TOY. EVER.
