On January 21st in Europe and January 22nd in North America, Canadian progressive metal pioneers VOIVOD will release their 13th studio album, Target Earth! To hear a new track from the album, please head over to Brooklyn Vegan.com for the exclusive stream of "Kluskap O'Kom":

http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2012/12/voivod_aims_tow.html

For fans that can't wait until Target Earth's release, be sure to check out the tracks "Target Earth" and "Mechanical Mind" for a further preview of the album! The official Target Earth EPK, featuring behind-the-scenes footage, plus an exclusive interview with Away (Michel Langevin) and Chewy (Daniel Mongrain) about the making of the album, can also be viewed online here.

Recorded at producer Pierre Rémillard's Wild Studios in Quebec and mixed by Sanford Parker (PELICAN, NACHTMYSTIUM), Target Earth features artwork by drummer Away, who used color schemes from each one of the band's previous albums to make this new masterpiece. The album brings back original bass player, Blacky (Jean Yves Thériault), marking his first recordings with the band since 1991's Angel Rat. It's also the first to feature guitarist Chewy, who cut his teeth playing guitar to the late Denis D'Amour's riffs, and thus has matched his style to a tee. VOIVOD, as a full group, hadn't sat down to write a record together since 2003's self-titled album. The end result harkens back to the group's late 80s output and after 30 years together as a band, one of their best yet.

The official track-listing for Target Earth can be seen below.
Target Earth
Kluskap O'Kom
Empathy for the Enemy
Mechanical Mind
Warchaic
Resistance
Kaleidos
Corps Étranger
Artefact
Defiance

I heard about 15 seconds of that Mechanical Mind song on Sirius radio. Unlistenable.

Are you sure it wasn't because the sound quality of satellite radio is hideous?

No, that was factored in, and the song was still terrible.

I love voivod, but this is pretty meh.

I like what I've heard so far, and it's leaps and bounds heavier and more "Voivod-sounding" than anything they've done since Snake came back. Sad but true.

I am a firm believer in what I have come to know as ''the three no's." That is, No Piggy No Voivod No care.

I felt exactly the same way until I saw them live. Dude'll never be Piggy, but he's quite good in his own right, and was a Piggy student in the first place. Personally, I felt a name change was in order, but all things considered, it's still good regardless of the name (unlike many other bands).
