While I usually frown on this style when it's from America, I see potential here. The weakest part is the vocals. some parts are out of key. It's hard to pull that shit off unless you're trained. A for effort.
listen to more Forefather. Keep on keeping on, though.. Interesting!

Listened, decent stuff that could use more polishing and variation, otherwise fairly catchy. I'd like to see this live, we don't have that much of this style in these parts.

Imposter! This is the real Lord Viall and I don't appreciate you making a mockery of my fest and my record label.
When I started my band Perpetual Winter I had a desire to bring the true sounds of black metal to New England. I formed The Legion from during the darkest days of NEBM in an attempt to revive the scene and bring something to the fans. This is not about us at all. We have no desire to run a popularity contest for you all when we, The Legion, present you with an amazing three day metal fest featuring the best and brightest of our area. No not at all. We do this for you, just like the old days when I booked metal shows at a club in NH. I would sometimes have to go to the ATM to take money out to pay the bands because the show wouldn't have a good turn out. I did that for the bands because they are the fans and without the fans then The Legion is nothing. I wake up every day smiling because I know David Gold is in Valhalla looking down on the wonderful progress we have made with this fest (in case you didn't know Cabin Fever Whiskey is a sponsor of Winter is Coming Fest) and I know that this us truly the dawn of a new era. We here at The Legion are so very happy to bring these amazing acts to you. I had to shut the venue I was working at down because they didn't have insurance and after the Great White fire there was nothing I could do to convince the city that they should let us stay open. Such is life but then you make lemonade out of the lemons you are handed. That us why there is the handcrafted Legion. Only the most honest and true forces in New England can be a part of us. There is nothing we want more than show that New England is a destination for the bands of the world. Come one, come all to the greatest show on Earth the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Winter is Coming Fest!

have you guys heard this band? it's great, total old-school pagan folk metal, for fans of Last Days of Humanity, Neptune Towers, and Brighter Death Now!
I was pointing out that it's not TOTALLY devoid of hardcore influence. The punk reference I don't get at all though. Maybe it's in other songs. Who knows?
It's like when people kept billing Blessed Offal as a doom band because we have a few slow parts. WE ARE NOT NOW, NOR WERE WE EVER A DOOM BAND.
I feel like it's just a tacked on thing so they can try to get love from the HC scene and the folk metal scene. Just be accurate when you describe your band is all I'm saying.
Also, there is a difference between listing your influences and saying you sound like a certain band. Bands like Black Sabbath and Rainbow are huge influences on BO believe it or not, but I'm not going to act like people who like 'Mob Rules' are going to dig a death metal band all of a sudden.
It's just confusing to people is all, I mean nowadays it doesn't matter as much because of the internet, but I remember back in the day ordering a tape of a band (can't remember teh name, forgettable though) that was described in the catalogue as a 'mix of Abruptum and Beherit 'DDTM'' and it legit was just a below-average generic scandinavian dark clone band. WANT MY MONEY BACK BRO
There are more songs then this on the EP. There are definitely songs that have pop punk moments, songs with 90s hardcore vibes, etc. It is hard to pin down a band with so many styles going on at the same time. I would be more than happy to hear your ideas of what it sounds liketo you, or if you just want to post pictures from your gay porn collection, that's cool too.
Prepare for a throw-down in the mead hall! From out of the cold, dense woodlands of Pennsylvania roars Frost Giant, a blood-and-steel spewing metallic warbeast hellbent on spreading the gospel of what it calls "heathen hardcore."
The crux of the band's sound is the carnivorous clashing of two worlds - the rampaging aggression of inspired classic hardcore like Minor Threat, Black Flag, and Agnostic Front joining forces with the melodic, shamanistic metal-play of Scandinavian bands like Korpiklaani, Ensiferum, and Tyr.
And like any band that makes a marked attempt at something never heard before, the music takes a bit of getting used to, as its belligerent, left-hook riffing and percussive skull-bashing is interwoven with a refreshing spiritual stoicism almost never heard from an American band.
The conviction of the sing-along choruses matched with the steadfast nature of the lead vocals actually lifts your spirits and puts you into a positive frame of mind. And as Frost Giant is marked by genre blending, the vocal delivery ranges from trollish death growls to back-alley brawling yelps and Danzig-like moon-howls.
I wouldn't call what the band creates "songs" as much as I would refer to them as hymns for the mosh pit. As potent as the lyrics are, the music is performed with such dedicated passion that it naturally commands attention.
If Frost Giant takes off, it could very well be on the cusp of a new genre of metal, which, in this day and age of homogenized glop people call metal these days, is a pretty wild thought.
LOL @ that dude saying this could be the cusp of a new genre of metal. This song is decent but calling this the latest greatest original thing is a stretch at the very least. I'm not trashing on the song you posted by any means but it's not something I've never heard.
"hymns for the mosh pit"?- sorry, dude, you lost me. Seems people should just post that their music is available and stop with the overly descriptive self-fucking-promotion. Just put your shit out there. If people like it, they like it.
THIS FORUM WILL BE ON MTV TRUE LIFE. THEY SIT IN THEIR MOM AND DADS BASEMENT LISTENING TO THE MOST UNDERGROUND BLACK METAL THERE IS AS THEY MASTURBATE TO FAT GIRL PORN AS THEY EAT THEIR CHEESE PIZZA AND THEY TALK ABOUT A LAME ASS GROUP CALLED THE LEGION THAT WAS TWO YEARS AGO, BUT THEY CAN'T MOVE ON BECAUSE THEY STILL TALK ABOUT IT BUT THAT'S OK BECAUSE ITS SO FUNNY,NOW GO EAT SOME SUSHI WITH SOME PERIOD BLOOD ON IT.
