ITT: Enslaved shares not especially funny tales of their bar mitzvahs on Moth Radio Hour

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 8,2012 1:02pm
I kind of like NPR being used as a metal outlet. Better than BrooklynVegan crap.

toggletoggle post by Burnsy at Aug 8,2012 1:04pm
I'm digging this so far.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 8,2012 1:06pm
How many albums does this make it now? 9?

that made me lol.

Oof. 12. Way off.
I honestly havent paid much attention to them since Isa came out. It's not that I don't like the new stuff, I just don't care as much.

toggletoggle post by Burnsy at Aug 8,2012 1:10pm
It'll be there 11th full length.

Nice Neil Diamond add before the Enslaved song starts

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Aug 9,2012 8:03am
there are some really good songs throughout the last bunch of albums, but none of the albums really stuck out in full. Below the Lights and Vertebrae are the strongest.

toggletoggle post by thirdknuckle  at Aug 9,2012 8:28am
What about Monumension?

I thought Vertebrae sounded like a heavy David Gilmour album

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Aug 9,2012 10:37am
i did NOT like Monumension at all. Blodhemn is the last good one before Below the Lights.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Aug 9,2012 10:37am
Vertebrae is not a good headphone album, Grutle's voice sounds horrible.

toggletoggle post by arktouros at Aug 9,2012 11:21am
"brought to you by the natural gas alliance - fracking is OK! really! here's a picture of a little girl with a flower!"

toggletoggle post by chrisREX  at Aug 9,2012 11:37am
Below the Lights is probably my favorite album. Ruun is underrated, and I really liked Axioma Ethica Odini and the Thorn EP.

My only gripe with the band is the keyboardist. I don't care for his singing. They don't exactly offend me, but they never do anything to excite me. Grutle has a great clean singing voice. I think he should just take it all over.

THANK YOU! I never understood people hating on that album, especially if they were already Enalaved fans.

toggletoggle post by trioxin_245  at Aug 9,2012 12:15pm
Enslaved have always been one of my favorite bands but after Isa I kind of stopped paying attention for whatever reason. It's definitely not bad, I just find myself putting on "Eld" or "Mardraum" a lot more than Ruun.

Frost > all else.

toggletoggle post by trioxin_245  at Aug 9,2012 12:15pm
Also 'thoughts like hammers' is a pretty off-putting name.

Everyone and their mom has said this to me my whole life and I don't see it. It's definitely an amazing album, but I don't know that it is their best because I love just about every album, for different reasons.

frost is great but this band has that skill of making albums that don't sound the same.

toggletoggle post by trioxin_245  at Aug 9,2012 12:18pm
exactly.

toggletoggle post by trioxin_245  at Aug 9,2012 12:19pm
I would definitely say that the most underrated Enslaved album is Monumension by far. SO fuckin good

Cripes, I'm getting raped by the opinion police. It's my favorite album. I like every one I have and the newer ones I've heard. I just don't drool over them anymore.

toggletoggle post by Burnsy at Aug 9,2012 12:21pm
Yeah I've met a lot of people that like enslaved buy have never even heard monumension. Convoys to nothingness for the fucking win.

toggletoggle post by trioxin_245  at Aug 9,2012 12:21pm edited Aug 9,2012 12:22pm
I didn't say it was a valid opinion, I was just saying I didn't share it.

edit: WASN'T a valid opinion, ugh

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 9,2012 12:23pm
This band will never put out a shoddy product, we can all agree on that.

When they played Mark's Showplace in 2006, I broke my knuckle while hitting the floor of the stage in excitement because they played Loke.

Also, I take that back. Eld is my favorite album by them.

I don't care if I sound like a homo fan boy, 793 is one of the best metal songs ever written.

I almost got
"We died like men

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 9,2012 12:33pm
Good thing about this band is they started so damn young. They have a lot of creative juices left before (IF) Metallica syndrome hits them.

backed. i saw them a few years ago in CT in front of like only 40 people, i sounded like a homo fanboy yelling "LINDISFARNE" at grutle, i don't think he knew what i was saying and they didn't play it.

Fuck yeah, Cromlech Gate.

I think when they played the Middle East last was the best time of the five times I've seen them. I lost my shit when they played The Voices.

I stopped paying attentiong to them after they fell in love with the keyboardist clean singing. The new stuff i check out every so often isnt "bad" but its just boring really. I saw them at the last Hole In the Sky a year ago and I actually stopped watching them half way through their set because I was getting tired of all the new songs. Also it may of been because I just saw Primordial, Mayhem, and Nefilheim...
