When she started listing off her friends and their occupations I had to skip to the next paragraph. Just a terrible writer. In the year 2012 do we really need to prove that people who listen to metal have jobs? She obviously likes to think she's part of some special minority group that she has to defend to the outside world.

man, i really wanted to dislike robin williams based on some of her articles. met her in february and was expecting a bunch of name dropping and record-referencing and stuck up fake cool. but honestly, she was actually just kinda normal. and really nice. even when drunk OP kept trying to hold her gimpy hand and hi-five her all night she took it in stride and thought it was funny. confused by the whole situation.

the npr thing was awful though.

You gotta remember this is the same person that wrote a big rant on how it's no big deal just because chicks play in metal bands, then she interviews Liz Buckingham and only asks questions about being a chick in a metal band.

I'm in no position to critique her writing though, as mine is total ass. I just thought that whole women in metal thing was a bit funny.

That article was annoying. Robin Williams is to "metal journalism" as Rick Reilly is to "sports journalism," all fluff, no substance.

I like the part how Black Tusk has common man jobs, the difference is that they're well read, terribly. Most bands listed dont even tour henceforth can afford to keep said fancy job. Next time focus on the fact that all musicians are classic venture capitalists and small business owners; keep fluff out of metal and keep the interest of the people as staple on NPR, as opposed to this inside track nonsense.
