who here has read this amazing book or the whole "trilogy" ? I have read the first four and am on the last book, Mostly Harmless. I must say that these books are hilarious and witty and pretty well put together, except the end of the fourth book, which was kind of weak compared to the rest of the series... so yeah... if you read any of these books, please discuss.

I've read all of them.
including young zaphod plays it safe.
I think that was the worst thing ever.

Spaldino, did you know they're currently in production, doing a movie version of Hitchikers? There's not a lot of big names in it, but you might get a kick out the fact that Ford Prefect is going to be played by Mos Def, and Marvin the Paranoid Android is going to be that midget guy from Willow and Leprechaun.

Those books are probably some of my all time favorites, by the way. Are you reading each individual book, or did you pick up that all in one "ultimate guide" collection? Make sure you check out Douglas Adams' other two books - Dirk Gently and the Holistic Detective Agency and Long Dark Teatime of the Soul. Absolutely hilarious.

Remember, the secret to flying is to forget that you're falling down.

im reading the books individually... although the last four books arent mine, i do own the first one. i might pick up the "Ultimate Guide".

Wowbagger The Infinitely Prolonged is so my hero.

If you enjoyed these books.. .you should check out Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman... its done in the same style of the Hitchhiker books, its been called "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Apocalypse". its so incredibly funny. Terry Pratchett is another great author. the Discworld books are soo good.

HAHAHAHA!!! i skipped over that part. Willow is going to play Marvin? HAHAHA! i pictured Marvin to be a lot taller and Prefect to be a little more... white? (no offense to black people). i wonder if they are going to show Ms Gallumbits (the triple-breasted whore of Eroticon Six)

Good Omens was pretty good. I read it a couple years back. The discworld books are great, I think I've read at least 10 of them. I actually have two copies of the Ultimate Hitchikers', one is a leatherbound copy a friend gave me for christmas. I think I've read it at least 4 times.

zaphod was black in the BBC version.

I picture marvin like the robot with john candy's voice from heavy metal.

if you get the "ultimate guide" there are actually 2 different versions. one has 6 and one has 7 stories in it.
I got this one: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/051...f=pd_sxp_elt_l1/103-9270214-7332604
which I believe only has 6 stories in it.
the week after I bought that, the one with 7 came out and I think I got it for someone for xmas or something.
