I like Meshuggah and I think they are incredible musicians who would blow anybody in this forum away with their chops. Although great chops don't always translate into great songwriting (look at the guys who work at Daddy's Junky Music for example).

what I'm saying is that even though fans might be split on their more recent material, they are still great musicians and I think they kick ass. The Daddy's refernce was just to make a point about skeptical musicians who say everything sucks but really can't back it up.

It's just off timing chugging. wow... im so impressed by boring off timing chugging. candiria has that stuff but atleast they have a rap/jazz feel to their stuff so the groove is ridiculous and enjoyable. I lie one Meshuggah song and thats it.

keep in mind meshuggah has guitar solo's over the chugging. Also, a lot of the chugging they do is pretty difficult to do on guitar, very hard to replicate the sound of it. Also, Tomas Haake is a sick fucking drummer.

Meshuggah PWNS ASS...they rule on guitar...their leads are sick...the chugs are totally disgustingly off time but sooo right, their bassist uses distortion (which pwns), the drummer is insane, and the singer has a distinct voice....WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT!!

rap/jazz is a great thing. leads are cool i guess... but im talking about the chug-chugging. its just very boring. their newest album was the biggest turd i have ever listened to. it was just as repetitive as Disgorge's Consume the Forsaken... i was downloading the songs and every time i was be like "ummm wait a second... didnt i just download this?" it was pretty sad.

I HATE rap and jazz, and absolutley despise them mixed together.

i dont know, meshugah just isnt for me. When I first heard them, it was nothing special. Their live show was not very interesting, all the songs were just mummbled and quite irritating. When I got a chance to listen to none, destroy erase and chaosphere, which was supposed to be the 'real shit' my view of them was not changed, only strenghthened.

jazz and classical are the most intricate forms of music therefore being the most amazing.

that person did make a completely ignorant post about meshuggah. meshuggah has some creativity... too bads its with time changes rather than note changes. there is some talent in that band, its just used wrong, in my opinion.

You guys repeat the same exact nonsense in every thread about meshuggah. Half of it is just babbling about shit you couldn't even play yourself.

Meshuggah uses just as many chords and notes as a lot of death metal bands if not more. Some death bands don't even have solo's. They are just not as fast so it doesn't sound like they are doing as much. Actually, a lot of the notes are so low that you can't really hear much of a difference...

Guitarists: I'd like to see you pick up a guitar and chug your way through chaosphere, and destroy erase improve. Tell me how much they suck after you give up.

Drummers: Sure you can blast, but can you play jazz beats beneath metal riffs? Drumming isn't all about speed. Make it through chaosphere and even nothing and I might be impressed.

Vocalists: It's not too hard to gurgle, it's not to hard to growl... screaming is actually more difficult to do. You couldn't out yell kidman unless you've had 20 children.

Nothing isn't a boring album at all. It's a sick album to get stoned to. Mike FOD once told me that it's Meshuggah playing stoner metal. I totally fucking agree. It wasn't meant to be aggressive. It's still metal. They didn't sell out anything in that album. Why are their old fans pissed?
