I made the flyers, printed em, handed them out. Solo, per usual. Most bands feel that just showing up to play is enough effort.

passing out flyers doesnt really work either unless you are targetting a specific demographic like a show within the genre. online promo does work for the most part but it helps to start doing so more than a few days in advance. :/

i've been doing facebook for a month as well as physical flyers at our shows. i just forgot about the 7 people who go to this website. i was surprised to see nobody else posted here either. eh. this show has changed location once and had 3 bands drop including the headliner so i think it's probably doomed anyway

The headliner (Insidious Decrepancy from TX) was never even booked.

He was being advertised on the show when nothing was ever arranged. When I found out the bullshit that was going on I immediately took Dysentery off & then the show remained venueless for at least 2 months, until a couple weeks ago.

That said, I made sure to promote it well and ask the assistance of those with experience so that I wasn't making too many mistakes (but man I've made boo boos for all my shows haha)

Insidious fiasco aside, the fact that this is actually happening is a miracle in itself. Yeah it definitely could've been handled a lot better(can't stress that enough), but it's gettin' done, and by golly, he proved me wrong when I said it was all gonna end up a pipe dream. Pro-tip: when a band says 'yeah just pay for my plane ticket & my guarantee' it doesn't mean confirm the act, promote them being on it and forget to pay for the band.
