Exactly. Why do you think there were 6 or 7 Saw movies? Because Lionsgate knew every year they'd make a box office killing with them

If it's popular it means people enjoy it. And I feel it cheapens my worth as a cool trendy metal guy if I like something that a lot of other people like. Things like Ghost, video game consoles, and breakfast cereal.

Idunno, Imma play this game. The setting is boring, unoriginal and done to death, but for competitive FPS, there probably won't be an option that's better.

I'd so much rather just play UT04, but playing against the same 4 people who are obsessed with the game so much that you'd never stand a chance against them just isn't very fun. Unless you're talking about LAN parties, but those are too hard to organize. Most of my friends are married and have kids now.
Just traded BF3 in for this. Battlefield kept freezing up on me during the campaign mode. Couldn't take it anymore. Apparently, it's happening everywhere. According to the interwebz at least.

I don't think I've ever seen the internet rage harder at a game than BF3 and the Origin service. All bros am mad.
Goddamn I suck at this game. I've sucked at all the COD games, really, but I've been getting absolutely OWNED in this one. This game has been out for less than 48 hrs, and I was playing again level 73's last night. Sweet merciful crap, man.

Just arrived in the mail 2 weeks before I thought it would...
Over-the-top awesomeness? Game delivers.
The story and gameplay for the campaign were bland, though the action sequences were pretty cool. Thoroughly enjoying multiplayer, though I've already seen a couple of glitching douchebags. Also, fuck quick-scoping.

What is so great about this game. its fucking stupid. Everyone who loves this game seems to be a 12 year old or a bro dude college frat boy.
I miss the days when quake and counterstrike ruled.
Now, I have yet to play the game, but have you played it yet? If not, how do you know how good or bad it is? Are you just going by who the typical player is? That's foolish.
The only reason you think fondly of quake and counterstrike, is because that was when YOU were a twelve-year-old.
hate to be that guy, but not so sure about that. that was the heyday of FPS. that's when there was still a huge barrier of entry to PC gaming and these games brought the genre into the mainstream so cash cows like call of duty could exist. remember that counterstrike was free and became the most played game online for many years. no CS = no COD
Idunno, I was 19-20 back then, and I seem to remember lots of in-game text messages which involve the words "gay" and "fag" and other words twelve-year-olds abuse.
And the fact the MW3 broke the world record of first-day sales of ANY release of any entertainment industry kinda proves that RIGHT NOW is the heyday for first person shooters. Perhaps you meant "the golden years".
I'll be the first to admit that ELITE is fucking dumb, but at least COD is free to play unlike many MMOs.

Action Quake 2 will always be my favorite first person shooter. Game was fast and 100% skill. First realism mod pre-CS. Too bad there aren't any servers left.
My fondest memories are playing UT and Halo when it first came out for PC. I remember having more fun back then than I do now, but I've accepted the fact that there's no more servers and not enough people to play it with. So instead of complaining, I've accepted that and adapted to what's playable now.
There will always be LAN parties for those of us who want to reminisce.
