Im bored, and looking to maybe start up a new death metal project if anyone is interested.

Looking to do some old school slam (i.e. Skinless, Suffocation, Internal Bleeding) and add some more technicality as well (Defeated Sanity, Inveracity, Beheaded)

I play drums if anyone isnt familiar, and looking to start off with a session if any guitar players like where these influences are going.

I have a practice space in South Boston and would be available 1-2 days a week.

Email me at Alex.Fewell AT gmail DOT com

Have a bit of an imagination. I'm not looking to start up another generic slam band with breakdowns comprising 95% of the material. Look at the influences.

I'm talking about when slam was good, bands like Skinless and Suffocation hardly sound like todays "slam".

Bands like Defeated Sanity have been capturing that feel in my opinion. I'm not talking about starting some football riff moshcore band

I would like to capture the raw heavy feel of old school slam and add some technicality to it, make things more interesting and adding more depth and emotion than playing the same three chords at 60 bpm

Sure. we can record all of the material on water, the most analog method of audio recording there is.

huh. You just inadvertently gave me a great idea that has absolutely nothing to do with slam or this thread. Please continue.

It should also be said that this will be primarily a side project to start with, definitely the possibility of doing shows if anything comes of it.

we should do an RTTP super group album where verious people contribute to various tracks in various ways..kinda like the Twilight project.

each track has different people collaborating on it...varying styles etc.

it should be called VARIOUS..except not really.

metal vocalist seeking band (allston)

Date: 2011-06-22, 4:33PM EDT Reply to: see below [Errors when replying to ads?]

very versatile 23 year old metal vocalist seeks new band to begin playing with. serious intentions. i currently play for one band but it seems that in the wake of recording our debut EP we are falling apart, we have moved out of our shared space, unable to find a new one and it seems the others are losing interest after 3 long years, i have only been with them for 6 months as they cycled through numerous vocalists prior to my arrival. I love this band and wish it would continute but i cant make it work on my own will power, so i'm looking for a new group of metalheads who love the music as much as i do. my main vocal style influences would be Trevor Strnad of The black dahlia murder, jon nodtveidt of dissection, corey taylor of slipknot, randy blythe of lamb of god, and phile bozeman of whitechapel. my main strengths lie in my brutal lows, mids, and high mids, while still remaining understandable throughout, i also do good highs but use them more for accenting certain words and as an occasional constant through a verse. i love to scream, its what i was born to do, ever since i discovered metal as a kid i taught myself for years to scream properly. plenty of stamina, my current project usually practices for 3 hours at a time and we have about 17 songs we play. i'm always recovered and ready to go again the next day, no amateur hour here. if youd be interested in hearing me and seeing if i'd be a good fit for your band you can reach my via email: cwhite88@mindspring.com or my cell: (781)-475-6947. thanks for taking the time to read this and i hope to hear from you soon. \m/

im looking to do something more on the lines of Defeated Sanity's abstract version of song writing. not generic gutteral slam death.

been listening to Lille a lot more and the way he writes drum sections. trying to incorporate more of that into my play style

Statements like this always makes me chortle. I can't name more than a handful of real slam bands in New England today. I feel like people who don't listen to brutal death metal are the ones that say this.

Personally, I think New England doesn't need any more black metal. But then again, I barely listen to it. So if you don't listen to the stuff in the first place, then keep on not listening.

Not hating, just stating.

agreed. to be honest this scene needs more death metal. i could probably count only about a dozen bands in New England that dont play some type of death metal cross over. when it comes to booking straight death metal shows i usually dont have a lot of bands to choose from in this area.

I always felt like Skinless just took the Scattered Remnants stlye and made it way more NYDMish. Never really considered them 'slam,' just very heavy/moshy death metal. But this is just spltting hairs I guess.

Internal Bleeding though, that's as wigger slam as it gets. 4 lyfe

I actually am pretty proud of my voice. Usually, I stick to lows - they're pretty guttural, though i'm still capable of a more traditional rasp (for clarity.) I'd say my vocals are brutal, though i'm still working on having a more even projection level.

Oh and someone (let's just call them "blue") said I sound like a young Frank Mullen at times.

MY SECRETARY, FOLLOWING A BARBARIC BEAVER BEATING THAT SLOUGHED OFF HER UTERINE LINING MORE EFFECTIVELY THAN HER OWN MENSTRUAL CYCLE, INFORMED ME THAT MY TWO LEAST FAVORITE ARTISTS, 311 AND SCOTT STAPP, WERE RECENTLY INVOLVED IN A SCUFFLE. HISTORICALLY A MEDIATOR, I FLEW IN MY LEARJET TO MEET THE TWO BANDS. THE TWO GROUPS WERE WHINING LIKE ANNA NICOLE SMITH AFTER INHERITANCE MONEY UNTIL I PREPPED THE MEMBERS OF 311 FOR THE IMPENDING IMPALEMENT WITH A COMPREHENSIVE COATING OF NUT NECTAR, GLUING THEM TO THE GROUND. AFTER SUSTAINING A BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA TO THE HEAD FROM MY CROTCH CRUSHING CONCUSSION CANE, STAPP WAS TAKEN 'HIGHER' THAN EVER BEFORE AS HE WAS BOUNCED LIKE A BABY UPON THE Z-MAN'S TWO-TON TROUSER-SCHNAUZER, WHILE THE 311 MEMBERS WERE HELD CAPTIVE BY THEIR OWN ASSHOLES LIKE BOWLING BALLS. THE FORCE FROM MY CULVERT-SIZED COCK SPLITTING STAPP APART WAS ENOUGH TO CAUSE HIM TO DEVELOP DUAL PERSONALITY DISORDER. AS STAPP PROCEEDED TO BLEED TO DEATH, MY STEADFAST SLUT-SPEARING SON-SIRING SKINFLUTE BURST THROUGH THE LEAD SINGER'S BVD'S, CAUSING HIM TO BREAK OUT INTO A RAPE-INSPIRED RENDITION OF 'COME ORIGINAL'. I COULD ONLY INTERPRET HIS SINGING TO INDICATE IT WAS TIME TO FINISH UP, SO I BURIED THE ALT-ROCK GREAT IN A GOOEY GRAVE OF GONAD GOULASH. MY GROIN YETI IS NOW THE SIXTH MEMBER OF 311, I GUARANTEE IT.
