You coming to the Black Anvil shopw tonight? I'm 85% happy with my tone, but I could really use a knowledgeable ear to help me use my amp to its fullest potential. As I've boasted in the past, I've got a Mesa Quad preamp, which is the Mark IIC and Mark III with 5 band EQ. Strangely enough, my (modded) Tube Screamer doesn't make fuck-all of a difference. The Quad is super sensitive and I'm kind of at a loss.

if youve got a high gain head already running hard with tons of gain, I've found that most boost pedals dont do shit...

You might wanna try an EQ pedal, but use it like a boost. Sometimes a little tonal change is more effective then trying to layer more gain on a ton of gain.

I am all about boost pedals. I run a custom made boost pedal pretty hot and then I use my OCD pretty much as a boost. Who the fuck needs a distortion channel when you can just boost the shit out of your signal into oblivion?

It's just that everything about the amp is so sensitive and if you know what you're doing, you can fine-tune it to get the godliest tones. Admittedly, I have a retard's ear and DON'T Know what I'm doing. I like where I'm at, but I want to make it more gooder. It's got its own five band EQ for each channel (Channel A is the Mk IIC, Channel B is the Mk III). If I could get someone like Blue to give it a minor fucking with, I know it would be hoss.

In my experiences, I've found that boosting doesn't really work in a preamp/power amp setting as much as it does in front of a normal head. I would try taking the TS out altogether. I would also try turning off the 5 band EQ and see if you dig it more without it.

Thanks, Blue. I've stopped using the TS. And it's almost unbelievable how much of a difference the EQ makes. It's kinda 'skronky' without it on, but with it on - BULLDOZER. If you can make it out, that would rule. As I said... Bowls on me. I think we're on right before Black Anvil so it should be later on.
