One of the best New England beers? Yep.
Outside of Allagash, a few Sam Adams brews, some Pretty Things, etc.. the Double Bag Ale is one of the best beers that's made around here, hands down. 7.2% Alcohol as well, so just a few of these and you're on your way to a nice buzz.

Pick these motherfuckers up next time you're buying a beer.

Good beer.

If you're ever in Tortilla Flats in Providence and haven't figured out that it's all shit and you should leave, make sure not to get it there. They have it on tap, but they water it down.

Not a bad brew, for certain. Possibly the best one Long Trail offers.

Purchased. Also, as much as i love Sam Adams, they get a BIG FUCK YOU for not having their rye ale available in 6 packs. While I like the shit that comes in the variety pack, 2 beers is not enough of that deliciousness.

I'd still put the Double Bag in my top 15 of new England because of it's price and kick.

True. There are some awesome brews that Sam Adams makes. I think they do sell them in 6 packs, but it's rare. If they don't, that's a shame. I really like the Old Fezziwig Ale as well. I usually always buy a Sam's Mix Pack if it has Scotch/Fezziwig etc in it. I think it's the winter pack, but I could be mistaken.

the chocolate bock is newer, right? they've only been selling that for a year or two. it was delicious. I wouldn't say it's better than Southern Tier's "Mokah" (nothing is, really) or Young's Double Chocolate Stout, but it was good

But I have yet to get drunk lol. I've become quite the beer snob. It's all about taste for me. I've been going to gasbarros and creating my own 6-pack. A little more expensive, yes, but worth it. I pay $10-$12 for beer I'd never otherwise have. I'd rather throw a beer away (as I did last week with this bullshit called "Yakima glory"...fucking disgusting) then buy a 6-pack and have it suffer the same fate. I've recently enjoyed hooker blonde and heavy seas pale ale. The latter being incredible IMO.

The one on federal hill? i hate federal hill liquors around the corner but have been avoiding this place cause it seems like just a high end wine joint.

toggletoggle post by Pires at Apr 8,2011 5:47pm
No, in Seekonk. Didn't even know there was one on the hill. Their specialty is "wine" but there's enough beer to satisfy my palate. And it'll take quite sometime to go through all of their choices. It's worth a shot for the store on the hill. At worst, you walk out empty-handed.

CRANBERRY
LAMB
DICK

a nice review from Beer Advocate

"Poured a cloudy reddish orange color with quite a bit of quickly dissipating mostly white head. Smells malty and grainy. Taste is not too impressive. Definitely taste the wheat though with a bit of a dry aftertaste from the cranberry coming through. Very bubbly feel. Not too drinkable in my mind. Probably would get sick of this after a couple."

that's being very generous. Such a waste of 2 spots in the winter smapler

toggletoggle post by immortal13 at Apr 9,2011 9:35am
Old Fezziwig is gold, as well as the holiday porter. I'm also a huuge fan of the new wee heavy sam adams has out. Long Trail double bag is so win. My first time trying it, some old guy showed up to a party at my house because he was stalking one of my friends (none of us knew that part for the first like hour until she started freaking out). He brought a 12 pack of this. So I thought he was alright. After we found out the deal and kicked him out, he was still nice enough to leave us his beer, this delicious beer. My vote was for the bitch to get over it and let him come back hahaha.

Another few recents I've fallen in love with: Rogue Chocolate Stout. That shit is fucking awesome. Really sweet, and a much higher quality stout than, say, Guiness, which isn't saying much, but still.

And no microbrew thread about New England Microbrews would be complete without mentioning Smuttynose. My buddy and I went halfs on a keg of Robust Porter, and that shit was gone in like a week.
