where are you booking these shows?

Important question: will you be paying bands for their time & effort this time around?

Lots of bands have fallen victim to your empty promises. LOTS.

Not trying to be a dick, A-Bomb, just a concerned citizen, do the right thing bro, and dont be like these other "promoters" in town who promise everything and GIVE NOTHING.

If a band cant get respect or treated like their time means something in their own home state, how the fuck are they ever gonna make it anywhere else?

Just remember, YOU need bands to book, THEY dont need you to welch on pay etc. etc.

Not being a dick, bro. Truth hurts like a motherfucker....Just sayin...

Play your cards right, and you'll have all the bands you could want. The bands have a tight community and look out for each other and they DO NOT need any more greedy bullshit promoters..

Prove us wrong, homey.

YOU could be the one promoter that everyone will always admire and respect, heres your chance, just do it right.

Love,
ROCK N' ROLL

Chris has always treated my bands right and got me on some killer shows. At least he is not one of them fucks charging locals to open for national acts or forcing bands to sell X amount of tickets. I hate shit like that. Does nothing good for anyone but the promoter. Chris if you start booking shows again I'll play them as soon as we are ready!

i always pay my bands to play shows.

dude who works the door had a spaz attack when dysentery played there a couple years ago, screaming at them to "take their money and go home" after one song. i'm guessing cause theyre just not used to anything that heavy? i haven't heard of any metal shows there since

Newport sucks anyway.

toggletoggle post by tylor69 at Mar 10,2011 9:09pm
ive lived on aquidneck island all my life and i really like newport. the one thing it's really lacking for me is a place to see metal/hardcore shows

I've lived in Rhode Island most of my life and never really spent much time out on Aquidneck Island... I mostly see it as a traffic nightmare and not much else (doesn't help that Newport is inaccessible in the summer)... still, realistically speaking it is the best option for seeing shows in RI outside of Providence/Pawtucket.

yeah, it is pretty annoying in the summertime with trips that are usually 5-10 minute drives turning into 20-30 minutes

Tylor, if this was true I'd know you. I'm born and raised Newporter. Rgers Viking class of 2000.

I grew up in and my parents still live on the street that runs BEHIND Jimmy's, Merton Rd but much closer to first beach.

actually Chris A bomb has almost always been the typical
sleazy promoter and skimmed the door...and payed the local
bands shit at the end of the night. he's notorious for it.

farthest thing from it. get your story straight. never skimmed the door at all. if the show did shitty i always tried to pay the bands whatever i could.

I love how BOTH posters who are talking shit about chris are doing so anonymously. Which bands did he "rip off" and at which shows? This has chinatown written all over it. And the fact that neither one of them can cite specific shows ain't halpin their argument.

toggletoggle post by chrisabomb at Mar 12,2011 2:24am
thanks pires for standing up for me. much appreciated. never burnt any bands before. if you dont draw anybody and theres no money to pay out what am i supposed to do? draw some people and you get paid and i paid bands out of my pocket most of the time and was broke as a joke for doing it. just saying it like it is.

toggletoggle post by Joshtruction   at Mar 12,2011 11:28am
There are plenty of promoters out there trying to rip people off. Chris is not one of them. Chris has hooked my band up with some INSANE shows through the years. If you throw us on a show with a sick national act, I don't give a rats ass if I get paid or not because it is local and much better than sitting on my couch or paying to see the show anyways. Chris has always AT LEAST given my band gas money. He would hook us up on shows we were more than willing to do for free.

Exactly my point. If you're a local band looking to get paid a shit ton of money, then UR DOING IT WRONG. Be glad you got to play with some great (inter)nationals and your band got to open.
