PROSTHETIC RECORDS is proud to announce the signing of Boston's JUNIUS, described by Rolling Stone as, "a perfect hybrid of Neurosis and the Smiths." The band, formed in 2003, has previously released material on Radar Recordings and The Mylene Sheath, amongst others and will begin work on their third full length this spring. JUNIUS has an extensive touring history in North America and Europe, and has shared stages with the likesofMastodon, Bad Religion, Valient Thorr, Howl, Orbs, Rosetta, Tombs, God Is An Astronaut, Irepress and many others. The band will be appearing at

Austin's South By Southwest Festival next week, and have April dates in Europe.

The band commented: "We've been excited about working with Prosthetic since meeting most of the guys in LA on tour last year. We're grateful that we seem to have good luck in finding people who are equally passionate, motivated and most importantly, believe in what we're doing enough to commit their time and effort to allow us to continue doing what we love to do. We're definitely looking forward to some very exciting and interesting years ahead!"

See the band live:

Past press accolades:
"Breathtaking Boston metal band pulls off a perfect hybrid of Neurosis and The Smiths, striking a stunning balance of brutality and beauty... A hard rock dream come true. " - Rolling Stone

"Beautifully crafted, genuinely intellectual, and deeply moving." - Alternative Press
"Joseph E. Martinez's voice is full of dramatics, falling somewhere between Robert Smith and Ken Andrews of Failure, full of melancholy and vulnerability. Somewhere between the treachery of My Bloody Valentine, the doomsday outlook of Joy Division, and the Space Rock glory of Cave In, Junius is one underground player who likely won't be underground much longer." - Decoy Music

"This is highly recommended for those who dabble in everything from Cave In and Isis to My Bloody Valentine and Joy Division." - Lambgoat

I wasn't aware they existed at all. Listened to it, going to pretend I didn't and keep being IGNANT.

whawhawhawha? didnt expect this at all

nobody on this board knows these guys because they operate outside of the scene and arent really metal.

A fair amount of people don't realize they're from Boston because of their commitment. They tour quite a bit and rarely do local gigs. Super good dudes.

i've never really thought of these guys as metal, but good for them.

Stumbled into a show of theirs at UNH back in 2004 maybe. I still regularly listen to their early EP "Forcing Out the Silence" I think. Good stuff

Not into them, but good for them, I like seeing bands do things and go places.
