I remixed "First Day in Ohio" yesterday. While I was at it, I recorded a full playthrough of the second half of the song ("arrival") complete with solo. The secondary guitar clip ended up out of sync for some reason, I apologize for that.
Check it out, let me know what you think of my shitty editing abilities.
If you want to compare the remix to the original, the first one is still available on the music page over at www.soundclick.com/black13
Thanks for listening, guys, Pam, and fat attention seeking non-males.
Sadly, I cannot do vocals at home. Too loud for the condo. Can't do vocals, can barely play my drums (electronic), and can't play acoustic guitar. Condos SUCK.
Otherwise this would be chock full of fake Cynic robot vocals, Mallcore shenanagins, and 5 part barbershop harmonies.
The video took about a day. All day yesterday, in fact. However, I'd say 50% was just me learning what to do. If I were to start over, I would probably take about 6 hours to do the same video.
Good stuff. You look to be a very orthodox/fundamental/well-studied guitar player. If you were ever to play that live, would you be able to stand up and have a stage presence playing that stuff? That's the difficult part

Depends how you define stage presence. I can stand up and play, but if you mean "jumping around like a tard" then no, I cannot.

Didn't mean that to sound douchey, if it came off that way. It's just a challenge to play this kind of stuff in a live setting. Good stuff all around though, interested in hearing everything you have when it's all set.
Not douchey at all. I'm just not one to jump around when I play. I can play well live, but never moved around much. I used to think it was because of the guitar taking all my concentration, but I wasn't very interesting as a front man either. My version of stage presence involves lots of getting stoned. The difference between vocals and guitar is that with guitar I can actually nail all the parts live. Vocals I just turned into a tired sounding pirate after 10 minutes.
