1990 - amazing
2011 - yeck |
Too little too late. Retire and age as gracefully as once-great middle-aged buttdarts can. |

I think the Brett Favre analogy would fit Mustaine better. |
fuck that! mustaine still writes good music. |

This. Endgame's the best thing they've done since the Friedman/Menza era. |
Wait. "First and only appearance"
It's not a tour? Goddammit. It's going to be in fucking LA. Or New York at best. |

Is anyone else a little bit insulted by this show. Am I really supposed to buy into this like the last 20 years of terrible music just never happened? Who actually gets excited over this show?? |

ive never seen metallica live |
unfortunately now would not be the time rectify that situation. |
Same here. What he said. Definitely not the time to start. |

...Anthrax either...and well, Megadeth too, but I've never liked Megadeth (minus 2 songs and a cover)
*braces for lynching* |
[oldman] Ha! I've seen these bands in their prime. [/oldman] |

Same here, on all counts. I will drive to NY for this. |
I am curious if there will be other bands on the bill.. festival? |
I let the door close on me seeing Metallica without much regret. If I didn't get to see them, at latest, 1997ish, then I'd rather just shrug and leave it. A coworker saw them at the Garden on the Death Magnetic tour and gave me a copy of the live recordings they do on the shows, and it was just plain bad. I sat through the recording twice and pitched it.
Megadeth I've seen 3 times but only with the modern lineup, and the most recent time I just shrugged and left after three times. It was just checking a box at that point. |
Metallica was great the last time i saw them (Sanitarium in 03? i think) They played mostly Black Album and before material except for two songs off Stanger. its been a sharp decline in quality since then from the live videos i've seen as well as reviews from friends who were soarly dissapointed at their recent performances. thats enough to detract me from ever seeing them again. |
oh and i basically saw better version of this tour with Testament instead in Lowell last year anyways |
I'm sure the venues won't be packed with insufferable faggots. |
This.

Doubtful. They probably have all four playing anywhere from an hour to two hours each. |
i saw metallica with COC in 1997. COC was my favorite band at the time. metallica played mostly old shit with some of the better load/reload songs sprinkled in. |

I doubt megadeth or anthrax would be given even close to 2 hours.... |

TRUTH...slayer and 'deth playing 2 of my fav albums start to finish
not a 'thrax fan and I guess I dont need to ever see 'tallica
so fuck it |
ya i wouldnt mind seein Anthrax with Belladonna. i was pissed they werent on the Lowell show but hopefully they'll do an off-date in boston or worcester. |
California show only. So far. Meh, saw Metallica in 2003, and it was an ok show. They played a good amount of old songs, but the new ones killed it for me. Watching the crowd EXPLODE when they played Sad but True was bad, but watching the crowd look around puzzled when they played No Remorse was simply the icing on a mediocre cake. |
If you've ever been disappointed with a live Metallica performance I have no sympathy for you.
Same goes for Megadeth. |

this. Metallica is one band i loved for so long but never had the chance to see, but i have no desire to see them now. my boss gave me a recording of the last show they did in Boston, i made it about halfway through before i wanted to die. |
I saw Metallica back on the "and justice" tour 2-3 times, and saw megadeth at the paradise on the peace sells tour and at the orpham on the following tour. I could care less about seeing them now, maybe slayer but saw them in 1990 at the channel. I will hold onto the memories of when these bands didn't suck. |
Most of the time, I don't wish I were older than I am. The exception being when people talk about awesome metal shows from the past that I was too young to see. Fuck |
[oldman] Ha! I've seen these bands in their prime. [/oldman] |
Yeah, i saw metallica on black tour (I know, one album too late.) and Megadeath on Symphony tour (sick) and anthrax on sound of white noise. (meh)
Fuck this show. |
