Maybe guitarists hate Lowell? Or maybe we're all just dicks, but the 3rd person in a row to fill the second guitar role has quit after a very short run with us.

So heres the deal:

We practice in the middle of the ghetto in Lowell. Sketchiness aside, our practice space is the basement of an apartment, and it works well and sounds good. We practice a lot and usually on short notice so if you're tied up all the time this may not be the gig for you.

We are pretty much done with pre-pro for our full length and will be recording the real deal soon. Be prepared to learn a lot of material on your own. We're all competent musicians in one form or another and will expect a lot from you. You don't have to be perfect but if you don't have the drive to learn the material and improve your chops we'll probably end up being dicks to you. Likewise, if you're passionate about music and don't mind learning complicated things, you'll fit right in.

No rockstar attitudes. We're all down to earth guys and are doing this because we love music.

That's about that. An open musical mind helps as well as owning a 7 string (a 6 string tuned to drop G sounds like ass).

Email us at pathogenicma@gmail.com

samples of our music can be emailed on request, and older material can be found through the appropriate social network channels.

You may be on to something about that whole guitarists hating Lowell thing.

And a 6-string tuned to drop G can sound fine with the proper scale length, string gauge, and pickups.

kidnap a child guitar prodigy from cambodia. there's a lot for him to like about lowell.

9/10 guitarists come to our practices with a six string tuned to E. We're just used to it always sounding like ass.

which guy quit? I was at the palladium show recently, was it the:
Broken arm/faceless shirt
or the
Johnny cupcakes/bowl-cut?

Johnny cupcakes. If the gimp quit pathogenic would be done forever.

was it a bowl cut or lego hair?

somewhere in between.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Jan 11,2011 1:49pm
only lego hair cambodian 7 stringers are real. in all seriousness, good luck on your search. replacing band members is a pain in the ass but at least guitarists are the most plentiful.

ha, i was gonna say the chubby one with the j-cupcakes shirt, but i decided if he was the one who was staying that i wouldn't want to hurt his feelings. He had some serious "special Olympic" faces while he was playing. It was hilarious.... he wasn't NEARLY as tight as the rest of you either.

why would anyone allow someone with a johnny cupcakes shirt in their wardrobe be in their band? tell him to get a venom shirt like a real man.

he actually came to practice a few times and learned the songs, unlike the hordes of people who claimed to be interested.

that's a valid reason

Well yeah, a 6-string set up for E and then just thrown down to drop G on the fly will unquestionably sound like ass. I wasn't arguing that fact at all.

Yep, that's rare. We get a ton of "interested" people. Than once you tell them that:

"NO, we do NOT want you to just come over and JAM. We need you to learn one of our songs all the way through, and come prepared with at least 5 riffs that you've written."

**crickets.........crickets......crickets....**

I like when people get indignant when you ask them to "LEARN A WHOLE SONG".... as if once they get in the band, they won't need to learn the REST of the songs... ha

wait, playing in a band means work? waaaah

i cant imagine going to a legitimate band tryout without learning at least 2-3 songs in advance. stupid people are stupid.

toggletoggle post by sever at Jan 11,2011 4:57pm
People seem to flip their shit when they realize that we'd rather spend our practice time practicing instead of holding your hand while you learn to play 2 seconds of one of our songs. We have mp3s and videos of the guitar parts... you're a big boy, you can handle it yourself.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Jan 11,2011 5:15pm
i do however have the ability to learn guitar parts fairly easily using my "guitar hero method". basically meaning i can watch some play a guitar part and replicate it for the most part. but i still make it point come prepared with at least some of the material.

toggletoggle post by Mark_R at Jan 11,2011 6:30pm
Agreed.
I am definitely willing to and fully expect to, go to a band audition having learned at least 2 or 3 of their songs top-to-bottom on my own. If I'm auditioning at all, I don't want anybody's time to be wasted. Individual parts should be learned and practiced individually so that a band rehearsal can focus on playing as a group.

EXACTLY. It's ridiculous how many people expect you to waste weeks of band practices just to show them the songs. You learn shit on your own, practice is meant to solidify it.
