I think Boston has a "family fireworks" thing at like 7 on the Common, then midnight over the water... There's no real way to get a good view without struggling through First Night insanity though. On July 4, they go off right by the Museum of Science, so you can actually see them without having to fight through crowds of thousands.

I spent my night just reading for the most part. One of my friends told me he'd call me around 9 when he was heading to the bar. He had some phone trouble and ended up calling me around 10:45, so I went down to East Greenwich, couldn't find him or get a hold of him on the phone, so I just left and came back here. He called me while I was driving back home and I told him I was tired and would just hang out with him this weekend.

I just said "yeah, happy new year", but it wasn't loud enough to wake someoneone.
