I desperately tried asking the reverend for a recommendation since he is so old and has been touching music since before we were all born, but due to his inability to speak proper English (probably due to texting on his ipad while driving), I am forced to pose these questions to the graduated listeners of the board:

What kind of turntable should I get? I don't want any USB bollocks, just a decent quality vinyl player and preferably under $200. I don't see myself listening to records primarily, just when the mood strikes. Also, if you're looking to get rid of one, pics and specs.

rev told me to get a Technic 1200mk2 but those are way out of my price range.

Don't be a fancy pants about it. If you're not out to be Mr. Vinyl just browse your local thrift shops and Goodwill's and you'll probably find a perfectly good one with awesome hipsterish tweed speakers for 10 bucks.

As some of you are already aware, my old apartment had a record player in every room except the bathroom and all were thrift store finds.

if you live in/around Boston, go to In Your Ear records on Comm Ave next to the Paradise. They have used ones for cheap and decent vintage ones with some audiophile cred for very reasonable prices. Reid is the man and will take care of you.

Thanks for the tips. I just uncovered a haul of ac/dc, def leppard, reo speedwagon, journey, the clash, and other records that would make wren's nipples exceed 2". Gonna see what kinda player I can find soon.

they are not. check craigslist and the daddys.com used inventory. everyone and their mother are always looking to get rid of them.

Technics 1200s are usually in the $200-250 range at Daddy's.
