New site? Maybe some day.

I'm currently using a Peavey Valveking 50 watt combo and it's not loud enough for the shows I'm playing. Have any of you guys used the Tiny Terror in a live setting? I'm sure I can get a sweet tone out of it, I'm just worried I wont be able to get the power that I want. I'd rather save money and get the 15 watt TT instead of the 30 watt DT. I don't need the extra channel. WHAT SAY YOU? |
|
Never used one myself, but when I was doing live sound more, there was a band that used to come through the club pretty often whose guitar player used a TT.
It was def. loud enough for their horrible 80's hair metal throwback jams.
Actually thought it sounded really good too. Sick little amp. Can you get one from a place with a decent return policy? Try it out at a couple practices and see... return it and upgrade to the 30w if it's not loud enough. I'd say it also depends on whether or not you need an CLEAN volume out of it. I don't think the 15w is going to give you much volume before it starts to breakup. |
|
Me thinks that the VK is gonna be louder than the TT. Dual Terror could be a good choice. |
|
I've used the Tiny Terror and the Dual Terror. Neither is particularly loud IMO, but they sound great and both have been used on Black Pyramid recordings extensively.
I think it depends on how loud the rest of your band is, and how loud you want to be. I'm competing with huge drums and a 350 watt tube bass rig, so 15 or 30 watts ain't gonna cut it. Besides, to really get chunky on the low end, I like the extra wattage of a 100+ watt tube amp to move some air.

My band isn't that loud, I think it's mostly that the VK just isn't loud enough for gigging. I just came across a large sum of money, so it seems more likely that I'll be able to check out the Dual Terror. I'm going to be buying this used most likely so I can really do the whole test it out and return it thing. |
|
Also worth saying, that the 30w probably won't be that much louder. Just be able to get a little more clean volume out of it.
Double watts does not equal double volume. |
|
who makes these terror amps yall are speaking of? Never heard of them... I really want a valveking head as a backup but i wanna spend like 300 not 4 |

Orange, you can get the TT used for 300-400ish. You're probably better off get the valveking if you're doing metal stuff. |

Yeah, I really want to see if I can find someone on campus who has one so I can get an idea of how loud it is. I still don't understand how watts really works in regards to actual amplification volume. SHIT IS CONFUSING. |
|
Are you cranking the Valveking all the way? 50 watts seriously isn't enough? I don't believe that for a second.
I would suspect either something is wrong with your speakers or they're just saturating or something. |
|
truth...both my rigs are 50 and 60 watts. pretty loud. |

It may have to do with the output too, i think the output is only made for a single 1x12 as opposed the the 4x12 im using. Shit is not loud. |
|
Really shouldn't matter. It's 50 watts. Are the impedances matched? Are all the speakers working? etc etc i no believe u |
