I'm a huge fan of MMA, but I refuse to wear tapout, mainly because I don't want to associate with said douchebags that think they can kick your ass just because they watched a video of how BJ Penn did that rear naked choke they saw.

UFC is so gay that I can't even watch it. I believe that all fans, every last single one of them is a closet fag.

I love watching boxing. My favorite MMA fights are the ones where they mostly stand up and kickbox and shit. Don't get me wrong, I love submissions, but knockouts are just awesome.

Boxing is pretty fantastic. Sometimes I just think it's idiotic (and I say that even though I'll watch it from time to time) that a guy gets knocked to the ground and still gets the shit beat out of him, where in boxing you stop.

That's because in boxing you have a 16 ounce glove being swung at your face with full power, so if you fall down they give you ten seconds to stand back up. MMA gloves are only 4 ounces, so there's not as much weight being thrown into the punches from a guy who's the same weight as a boxer. But, they do stop the fights immediately if they see the guy's eyes just roll and he falls right back. TKO's only happen when they're doing ground and pound and shit and the guy just suddenly goes limp or can't intelligently defend himself.

You've got it a little backwards here; it's easier to knock someone out with the MMA gloves because there isn't nearly as much padding.

EDIT: Read your post wrong; saw "knocked down" as "knocked out," so I guess what you're saying makes sense...not 100% sure if that's the reason they allow boxers back up though...

That still doesn't disregard the fact that you see MMA fighters jump on top and beat the snot out of guys when they can't protect themselves - getting them off when a guy goes completely limp is a little too late for the cause is what I'm getting at. But then again it's not me getting in the ring, so beat your own brains away I guess...?

I actually thoroughly enjoy MMA; if you really watch a lot of fights and understand what's going on you'll see that there are a lot of fighters who can defend themselves effectively even if they get knocked down. The other thing is that there are a lot more tools MMA fighters can use to nullify striking than in boxing.

And that's my point, in MMA it's not only if you go limp that they stop the fight. If they see that you are barely defending yourself and just kinda lying there with your hands over your head, they'll stop the fight (exception: Lesnar vs. Carwin).

I was training for a few months before I became more broke than I was before, so I believe I have a general idea of what they're doing. Sometimes the grappling still throws me off a bit with what they're doing, but after certain movements I again get a general idea of what he's trying to pull off, unlike guys like John Fitch who just kinda lay on top of his opponent trying to get points that way.
