Anyone that's been using limewire in the past 5 years is a moron. shit was dangerous.

toggletoggle post by bloblovesmusic at Oct 29,2010 5:05pm
I used it after Napster got shut down. It was slightly better than Napster at the time, but then I discovered that most of the MP3s I was downloading were really really shitty.

inb4 cool story bro

When napster first came out, it was the shit. When napster died out, Audiogalaxy.com was the shit. When audiogalaxy.com died out, IRC metal channels (although present during the pinnacle of the above-mentioned) were the shit. only the undernet server's #blackmetal, #darkmusic, etc were real.
When that started losing popularity, Direct Connect was the shit. The neoclassical metal hub(conservationist was always present on it), blackmetal666, deathmetal etc were all good. I was an admin on 2 metal hubs, and we were told to enforce bans if anyone had Cradle of Filth, Dimmu borgir, or any mainstream band hosted. Lol.
After direct connect, I'd assume that the blogs and file hosting sites took over. Some people preferred soulseek or limewire.

All that said, limewire was always popular but was littered with viruses and bugs, as well as RIAA agents.
Torrents are good too but I don't use them anymore. Fuck file sharing anyway, buying albums has always been the best.

Grim story, bro.

Your grim points are now below -100,000

toggletoggle post by bloblovesmusic at Oct 29,2010 5:53pm
I prefer blogs and forums for my illegal downloading needs. Though I agree buying albums are definitely the best.

Hakuna matata.

Your beard offsets it, though. Giant beard of pubes = 2,300,482 points

soulseek or bust. Talking to Ukrainian hot chicks whilst pilfering them of their obscure black metal for the win.

R.I.P. AUDIO GALAXY. found out about Eternal Suffering through that shit. it was the best way to download metal at the time. IRC wasnt even as good.

Good one. I remember that. Did you share music there or leech?

buying music is cool but I wouldn't have discovered half of the music I listen to now if I hadn't downloaded it first and gotten really into it while tracking down the obscure CDs...

Direct connect was definitely the shit... the grindstuff hub was by far the best

I still talk to a couple of people from my soulseek days. Limewire was for people not smart enough to work torrents.
