It's 2 hours away from the trade deadline and biggest story of the day so far has been the Bear's rise and fall of interest in acquiring Mankins for a 4th rounder and DT Tommie Harris.

For the Patriots: They'll deal Moss for below market value, and go out of their way to over pay for Deion Branch but they won't cough up Mankins for anything less than a 1st, early 2nd or player compensation? I thought this was the "team chemistry" era. Now we're hanging on to a guy who is either selfish enough to think that he needs to be paid like a left tackle... or gullible enough to still believe in his agent who has already cost him millions.

For the Bears: Their starting right guard is their 2009 7th round pick. They've given up 23 sacks to Jay Cutler already this season. Their starting right tackle is their 2010 7th round pick. They gave up 2 firsts, a third, and their starting quarterback to get Cutler and they won't give up a 4th and an under-performing DT for a guy to protect their franchise QB?

I'm having all kinds of trouble with this.

I'd write a strongly worded letter to the Patriots c/o "Bill Belichik's Impending Colon Cancer, You Faggots"

It's either one or the other, are the Pats holding on to Mankins, or are the Bears not willing to give up a 4th and an under-performing DT?

I'm fine w/ it, thanx for asking

I am still master of my universe, you don't understand he was the reason they won it all in 2007, and he will be the reason they win it all in 2011.

as my good friend and fellow cocaine lover Ric Flair once said Wooooooooo

what Mankins needs to do is fire his agent, because he is obviously doing a shitty job in representing his client

I am MASTER OF MY UNIVERSE, you should have let me book your tour. You'd be out on the road selling out concert halls with Brett Michaels. Goddamn Hobby Rockers.

I didn't really have anything to post, I just thought this would be a great troll name.

I'm shocked they couldn't pull the trigger on SOMETHING. I mean, really, who believes Mankins will be in a Pats uniform next year?

toggletoggle post by RustyPS should be working at Oct 19,2010 7:27pm
I think they'll franchise him.

And then he'll hold out again.

unless he cuts his agent loose, they'll franchise him to get something for him, like they did with Cassel

Mankins never signed the contract the pats offered so he cant be traded. He's sort of stuck in ignant limbo. Pride dont get ya paid buddy.

That's what I've been saying, but I really think he's stubborn enough that he'll do it.

To be clear, I think he'll sign his RFA tender by week 10, he plays out the rest of this season giving him the minimum amount of games to earn a year's service time to make him a UFA in the offseason. Then, the Pats will franchise him to trade him.
