Leaked today
Anyone else listening?

How's the new October Tide?

toggletoggle post by quintessence_nli at Sep 18,2010 6:31pm
I wasn't super impressed with that one song they previewed.

toggletoggle post by TheRidersofDoom  at Sep 18,2010 8:10pm
new enslaved? don't mind if I do. Not to sound unTro0 but I like the way Enslaved has been evolving, more clean vocals and prog riffs.

I thought they went to far on Vertebrae
All the David Gilmour vocals.... too much
This one is much better

October Tide?! I thought they stopped putting stuff out years ago.

Grabbing Enslaved now. Didn't know it was coming, but now I am looking forward to it.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 18,2010 10:18pm
didn't vertebrae just come out?

toggletoggle post by ala at Sep 19,2010 12:05am
Vertabrae came out in 2008

October Tide is really quite underwhelming. It's heavy and grooving, but the melodies are not there and really that is what I want from them

New Enslaved has more bite than what we've seen from them recently. The heavy riffing for some reason calls to mind new Beherit...
the prog elements are still there and the juxtaposition feels somewhat awkward

New October Tide line up has a few guys from In Mourning. Hmm. It could just be the beer talking, but that track posted above doesn't sound half bad. I wonder if October Tide will be doing shows now, considering Fredrik Norrman left Katatonia.

And apparently yes, they are now playing out live.

toggletoggle post by beelze at Sep 19,2010 3:50am
Grutel has the best bm vocals of all time besides attila

i just can't get into this new Enslaved sound. Isa, Ruun, Below The Lights, Vertebrae, they have some cool songs but overall i have been far from impressed. Vertebrae is REALLY weak. hopefully they brought some rage back.

ONLY VIKINGLIGR VELDI IS REAL.

ohhhhhhhhhhhh shit i'm trying before buying right fucking now

New October Tide is pretty damned good. New Enslaved is....meeeehhhhhh.

toggletoggle post by mikeofdecrepitude at Sep 20,2010 12:50pm
The new October Tide isn't too bad. It doesn't top Rain Without End but it's a decent effort, nonetheless.

I honestly place the new enslaved behind Vertabrae, which was the least favorite album out of the newer Enslaved since Monumension. Maybe I will have to spin it more times to fall in love with it, it took me a while to warm up to Ruun

All metal post 1995 sucks.

picking up the new enslaved today.

How can anyone not like below the lights but enjoy Ruun? that album blows. Below the lights is amazing.

toggletoggle post by arktouros at Sep 29,2010 2:05pm
on first listen i really dig this, i may end up liking it better than vertebrae, and i love vertebrae. there's less pink floyd and faster, more aggressive parts overall. "giants" is a monster of a tune and probably one of their best mid-paced jams.
aside from litterally abandoning blastbeats and adding shoegaze, psychadelic/floyd, clean vocal elements, enslaved really haven't changed much at all. much their riffs are almost interchangeable between every album.

new enslaved and new october tide are both awesome. i can't stop listening to them. the october tide album isn't as good as their classic old stuff, but i like it a shitload.

we are (15/22) /(13/17) there my friend.

The Enslaved cd is the true follow-up to Isa, I'd say. Far better than Vertebrae.

BUT they do appear to be slowly becoming Opeth, especially during the last song "Lightening"
