A.J. Nystrom is The Nytro Drummer. A true spark plug behind the kit with a no-nonsense work ethic and an insatiable drive to be the best drummer in the world, Nystrom brings years of experience in the studio and on stage to whomever has the privilege of working with him. Practicing on average of 2 to 3 hours per day, "Nytro" is a true believer in the phrase "the harder you work, the luckier you get."
Nystrom grew up in the city of Taunton, Massachusetts about 40 minutes southeast of Boston. He began taking formal drum lessons at age 9 under the tutelage of Mark Roscoe- a student, himself, of the incomparable Billy Flanagan who also taught one Steve Smith of Journey and Vital Information fame. "The bug," as it is known, bit A.J. during his sophomore year when he performed a drum solo for the Fine Arts Rally held the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. After his performance to the Senior and Sophomore classes he received a thunderous ovation from teachers and students alike. At that point he knew that he wanted to perform for a living.
A.J. Nystrom started and performed with a handful of bands that would take him into the recording studio and on the road for club gigs, battles of the bands, and even an appearance on a college TV station to perform an acoustic set. During that time, a guitarist commented about how explosive Nystrom was behind the set. The bassist of the band quickly came up with the nickname "Nytro" as a play on words referring to the unstable nature of nitroglycerine, which was used in dynamite.
Currently, Nystrom is battling his way back into the music scene after a 2+ year hiatus to focus on his day job. A.J. is focused, refreshed, and committed to making music his day job, night job, and only job. Nytro is willing and able to perform a large variety of music but his passion and forte lie in the progressive, hard rock, and metal genres. A.J. Nystrom is available for your recording sessions and live performance needs.

I'm looking to get back into the music scene after a two-year hiatus in which I focused strictly on my "day job." I'm interested in doing studio work in any genre (although I'm most versed and experienced in the rock, metal, progressive genres) and I'm open to playing live shows as well.
hahahah A+ on what Ark said. he's right. no one cares what your flashy unverifiable credentials say, anyone could say that about themselves. make with something tangible.
I assumed it would be a craiglist m4m ad based on the title.

Don't worry I play guitar like a handless downer trying to mix a drink.

why does this fag list 45 links to non existent sites about himself and wear the same hat as Neil peart. fucking logo is a ripoff of dream theater too LOLOOOlL9@
i like that he says:
"Practicing on average of 2 to 3 hours per day, "Nytro" is a true believer in the phrase "the harder you work, the luckier you get."
..really dude, you think 2 to 3 hours a day earns you the right to write this bullshit? ha.
after re-reading this, i actually believe it's real. The narcissism is something you can find in all variety of musicians, but it's rather common in drummers that are better than mediocre.
Saying things like: "Nystrom brings years of experience in the studio and on stage to whomever has the privilege of working with him"

yeah and the intro? "thanks for coming back"? what?
all i see is someone hiding behind a big kit, hitting rims, and not playing a consistent groove for more than six seconds.
this guy thinks he's the shit: http://www.facebook.com/a.j.nystromofficial "A.J. Nystrom Well... it's finally here!! This is my first offering to the music world in about 3 years. After shaking off the rust (for the most part) for the past 2 months of practicing I figured it was time to throw myself a little "Welcome Back" party."
It has become apparent that I need more websites dedicated to my drumming. With all the drummers on this forum, why haven't more of you told me about this? I'm disappointed.

for all you asses that said he cant keep a beat. another video.eat it.
it's also funny when people write bio's about themselves written in the third person to try to make it look like they're known when they obviously aren't interesting enough for anyone to take time out of their day to pump up someone else's overinflated ego.
i love when drummers think they are amazing because they have a flashy drumset with all kinds of add-ons they don't use properly. you can accomplish so much with a very simple kit. Just look at Living Void.
He has two videos of the exact same thing from slightly different angles on youtube... And he thinks he's great because he can play rock beats????

i think he's amazing. i wanna start a godsmack tribute band with him.

As homoerotic as this guys ad is and all joking aside, dude really isn't that good. Tapity tap tap smash smash fill fill fill stop start isn't what anyone is looking for. Godspeed you homosexual champion.
post by sir coughsalot at Sep 8,2010 7:48pm
i think he should play for zappa. his beats are so otherworldly.
post by yngwie slurpenstein at Sep 9,2010 8:00am
maybe he can join dream theater now...they're probably trying to contact him as we speak.
post by HAIL AND KILL at Sep 9,2010 1:12pm
Wow, it's been almost two days since he posted in here, pretending to be someone else. Perhaps he's fallen and can't reach his keyboard, or is too busy practicing hitting tiny cymbals for the Dream Theater tryout, if only he can talk them into playing 7 seconds of a song at a time.
Of course YOU don't think he's that bad... If YOU thought he was as bad as the rest of us YOU wouldn't have posted the horribly egotistic bio at the beginning of this...
Ugh, another decent drummer (yup decent, he doesn't flat out suck, but he certainly isn't great.) that thinks he's Mike Portnoy... or I should say... thinks he's what Mike Portnoy thinks he is.. hehe, what?
58 seconds. That's how long it takes for him to even hit a single drum in a 2 minute video and he wonders why everyone thinks he's full of shit. Not to mention the fact that my cat could play what this guy is playing.

AJ... like brian said your meter is not good. drumming isn't about how flashy your fills can be or how fast you can play. it's about feeling the rhythm and setting a pace for the music.
there is nothing musical about your playing in these videos. you're only playing a bunch of fills poorly with no sense of dynamics, direction or time. your double kick is all the over place. you speed up and slow down. you are, at best, an okay drummer with no sense of time.
wow. i just watched those videos. in my profile it says i play drums half assed..........this dude makes me look like derek roddy
That's why you're awesome, and this dude sucks. If you suck, admit you suck, if you're decent, say you're decent/half assed, if you THINK you're awesome, keep your mouth shut!!
hahaha no matter how many times i see Bryan play i will never not be amazed. he moves more fluidly than a wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube-man.
hey guys! i'm currently looking to join a hard hitting metal band!! i have uploaded some awesome vids of me playing for you to check out and rock out. if you want to be in a band holla back at me. ROCK ON!
There's no way this guy would actually have the stamina to be in the types of bands that people on this forum play in. The blast beats in that instructional video fall apart almost instantly.
