I like people who punch fans.

It's on the front page of Boston.com. The internet is quite aware.

God help us if Sheed comes back...

I like this better than kwame brown. And signing shaq would get us nowhere. The celts run the floor constantly. Shaq would only slow them down when he was out there. Just ask lebron how the shaq experiment worked for him.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Jul 8,2010 5:41pm
I'd rather have Shaq than a guy who obviously gave up last year

We love our washed up over priced big guys.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 8,2010 7:45pm
There really wasn't many options for 7 footers. The guy never won a title. I never liked him but you have to remember this dude averaged 20pts and 10 rebounds not too long ago. With KG and co. he should be 12-15pt a game, 7-8 rebounds guy.

toggletoggle post by quintessence_nli at Jul 8,2010 7:57pm
Thats exactly what they said about teh sheed. oh well.

toggletoggle post by quintessence_nli at Jul 8,2010 7:58pm
Also i hear Kwuami Brown was an option. LOL bring back Mikey Moore!!! lulz.

toggletoggle post by SkinSandwich at Jul 8,2010 8:09pm
DONKEY MOORE!!!

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 8,2010 8:22pm
lol, sheed may come back.

toggletoggle post by quintessence_nli at Jul 8,2010 8:25pm
If I was fat sheed I would just retire. You know he just wants to sit around and smoke weed all day anyways. Why go through another season being hounded by the refs.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 8,2010 8:32pm
I'd love to smoke weed with sheed. I bet he's got the best stories

sheed definitely puffs, and rondo is definitely a hyper stoner

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Jul 8,2010 9:06pm
Between this, Shaq and Kwuami Brown, I honestly couldn't say which would be worse then the other.

Ryan Gomes is available...GET HIM BACK NOW

toggletoggle post by t2daeek  at Jul 8,2010 10:09pm
i wouldn't have minded shaq. as long as his minutes stayed down he played hard and pretty well. good presence on defense...
jermaine o'neal plays soft a lot. he's like a spindly rasheed. and he sure as shit doesn't make me forget perkins if he has to fill perk's spot while he's recovering.

toggletoggle post by LPCustom at Jul 8,2010 10:22pm
Pretty disappointed with this pick up. Always hope for the best with the C's though so I'm pulling for him. He won't spread the floor as well as Sheed (which wasn't his best last year anyway), will play more in the post than Sheed but with less skill, but will probably get more rebounds so I'm unsure what to make of this pick up. Quite interested to see what Danny will do from here too.

And obviously 2 years from now will be the big collapse/rebuild of Boston basketball. Ray Allen, KG, and O'Neal off the books so I guess we assume DA adds more veterans based on this signing...? Doubtful with the $ left or lack there of we get any significant piece for the future now which was expected going into the "Big 3". Can't wait for basketball to start again though with the exception of the fact that the Lakers will basically waltz untouched into the Finals.

toggletoggle post by LPCustom at Jul 8,2010 10:27pm
I'll also make things interesting and just throw out there that Shaq, Jason Williams, and Marquis Daniels end up in Miami. I also said Nate Robinson to one of my friends but that's pretty doubtful.

Reasons:

Shaq wants revenge on Kobe's douchebag rings statement, doesn't need $ at this point. Has played with Lebron/Wade successfully. Williams could return to Orlando but they now have Jameer Nelson and signed another PG yesterday (whose name escapes me right now!) and was part of the Wade/Shaq Championship. And Marquis likely isn't getting much after another subpar season and will probably just fill a bench spot. All stupid predictions that won't come true.

I don't think Jermaine is going to make this a worse team by any means. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce resigned so you know they're going to be the controlling factors of this team on the floor. I still hope the C's land a big time signing this offseason though.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jul 9,2010 9:53am
you guys are crazy. Jermaine is a solid player, and he's gonna be a boost to the team.

toggletoggle post by SkinSandwich at Jul 9,2010 9:56am
He is black which means he can play basketball. I like this signing.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jul 9,2010 10:01am
our bench isn't close to finalized yet, we can still pick up some key players... and we have one of the best developing point guards in the league in Rhondo, big baby was finally starting to show what he could do at the end of last year, Jermaine O is gonna boost our rebounding bigtime (which is probably exactly what DA wants him to do), and like i said, i think DA is gonna fill our bench with people who can play awesome defense. We'll see what happens, but don't be pessimistic yet people!

toggletoggle post by arktouros at Jul 9,2010 10:07am
Excited to see Rondo and Big Baby kick ass this year.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 9,2010 10:14am
The 2bd round pick they got is a good rebounder and is opening up many eyes in the summer league. The thing about Ainge that most people don't give him credit for is his drafting. He knows who can be good in the NBA. Rondo? Nigga was a bastard at Kentucky and showed limited skill. Now he is a future hall of famer if he keeps playing like he does. Nigggga wuuuut

toggletoggle post by MillenialKingdom  at Jul 9,2010 10:19am
I agree about the rebounding needs. I noticed in the Finals, they were getting killed on the boards and it was pissing me off to no end.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jul 9,2010 10:34am
right, and that was their weekest aspect. I honestly believe DA will surprise everyone yet again this year.. and i can't wait to watch it.

Celtics vs. Heat in the Eastern Conference finals? It's more likely than you think.

THIS

Gomes got a deal with the Clippers last I read. AKA - Clippers and other teams have tons of money to dump on players who the Cs would likely pick up at minimum prices otherwise. This will separate those who want $ from those who want to win this year. I think we're gonna be seeing a lot of this with the Nets, Knicks, and Clippers etc etc. You can't blame these guys either to be taking the money, but it will make things interesting for Ainge with what he has to work with.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Jul 9,2010 2:01pm
lame.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jul 9,2010 2:07pm
yep yep, gomes is the shit.

toggletoggle post by LPCustom at Jul 9,2010 2:08pm
Yeah. At least TA is coming back too. I hope we could get Nate and than play the market for some veteran, yet not dead bench players. Nate will probably be able to make some good money elsewhere though so we'll see. At the deadline last year the word was the Cs didn't want him after the year but after some of his playoff/Finals play, who knows.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jul 9,2010 2:11pm
i think he might have changed DA's mind, but we'll see.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 9,2010 2:14pm
rumor is Nate will be resigned.
I was reading his Twitter this morning.. damn he speaks like a homey. I guess he wants to come back. We'll see.

toggletoggle post by LPCustom at Jul 9,2010 2:17pm
I agree. DA and Doc. And people were worried about him getting along with the Big 3 and Rondo etc etc but that seems to work out well. He and Rondo seemed to be rooting for each other quite a bit which was nice to see. He really was a nice spark on offense which was expected, but I was also really impressed with how much his defense had improved from what it was in NY. Truly a capable player but never committed on both ends it seemed.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jul 9,2010 2:29pm
i think that's cus he thrives on pressure. I really do hope we get him back, although i have a feeling he'll suck until the pressure's on at playoff time.... i still want him back though, and i hope he proves me wrong about the reg season.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Jul 9,2010 2:45pm
I think when Nate first got here, he was trying to prove he could handle the ball and facilitate the offense, which isn't his game, and he suffered cause of it....when Doc took him out of the regular rotation, I think he realized he needed to go back to what he did best

toggletoggle post by sethrich   at Jul 9,2010 3:23pm
This is a good pickup considering who’s out there for big men. I like that he can play defense and DOESN’T roam the arc *cough* Sheed *cough* No idea what his personality is like around vets, but I hope it works out. If he acts up when Perk gets reinserted into the starting five, that could get interesting…

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 9,2010 3:42pm
Should have called Big Country to see if he's still available.

toggletoggle post by quintessence  at Jul 9,2010 7:06pm
I would of liked to see someone like Marcus Camby signed, but he got an extension in portland. Oh well.

toggletoggle post by LPCustom at Jul 9,2010 10:14pm
Not enough cash for Camby, but I really like that idea. Finish out his career kinda where he started with UMass and all. Plus he's a pretty solid player.

they def could have done worse than j. oneal. they could have just hung it up and let ray allen go someplace else. i just get down on him because his d isn't always good... though i've seen it great. he just reminds me of a less built kg that has less drive to really lock it up on defense.
honestly as long as they have another big to replace sheed (is he back? i haven't been able to follow so close recently) it should be ok. they do need some bench though. any word on if they'll try to resign nate robinson? i know he's streaky but i think he's worth having at certain price points. he's probably gonna command a big paycheck though.
