seeking heavy sludge shoegazer metal GUITARISTS

Bassist/Vocalist and Drummer forming heavy shoegazer metal type band. Seeking 2 Guitarists (might have atleast one already for this, but it's uncertain at this point), maybe a keyboard. For the time being, I've been playing guitar to flesh out ideas and material. We are tuned to B standard. Detuned mountain crushing landscape painting music. atmospheric and grooving. perhaps some electronic sounds as well. Influences include, but not limited to: Baroness, Coalesce, Crowbar, Deftones, Dredg, Intronaut, Irepress, Jesu, Kylesa, Massive Attack, Mogwai, Mouth of the Architect, Neurosis, Portishead, Rosetta, Squarepusher, Trap Them, Torche, etc... serious work ethic, sense of humor, achievement and accomplish, Play shows, record, hopefully get on a decent label, possible small tours; all goals of this band to be.

I currently live in Milford, CT, but this band could possibly gravitate more towards Hartford or NY.

Sounds dope. Glad "Deep V's" are not a requirement.

Interesting but too far.

this has serious potential, good luck.

If you need electronics, I may know someone that specializes in soundscapes.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 7,2010 9:32am

Will someone please explain to me/give me examples of what exactly "shoegaze" is?

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 7,2010 9:41am
Ride - Nowhere

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless. Start with those classics.
It's a term tossed around so loosely now.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 7,2010 9:46am
Eh fuck it. I'm starting a new type of music called Titgaze. I'd much rather gaze at tits than shoes.

I didn't know you were a man of such discerning taste. My hat is off to you, sir.

OK. I always wondered if MBV fell into that category.

Funny, I just read a really great interview with one of the guys in a recording magazine I subscribe to. Loveless has like 25 vocal layers in spots, all basically singing the same exact thing.

Crazy.

i'm not crazy about MBV. i listened to Loveless and didnt see what all the hub bub is about.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 7,2010 10:10am
you have to listen to it on drugs and your fanciest pair of shoes.
the hubub is generally around the atmosphere and mixing of the sound. not sure if you noticed it, but listen to it again and you will see who the smashing pumpkins rip off.

hahaha "tit gaze" I love that. Tits are a big influence, big tits are an even bigger influence hahaha.

thank you for all the feedback. I got a couple drummers and a couple guitarists that i'll be meeting up with hopefully soon.

SLAG NLI i'd be interested in "soundscapes" please feel free to pass my email to yer friend, not sure where you're located but unfortunately I don't think this band will gravitate any further north of Hartford, CT. But for me distance doesn't matter as long as you find what you're looking for.

Still looking for musicians to bring this to life, so I appreciate all and anyone who keeps an eye/ear out for it. thanks

toggletoggle post by blessed offal nli at Jul 7,2010 7:53pm
ill do it if we can just do the shoegaze without the metal.

toggletoggle post by blessed offal nli at Jul 7,2010 8:00pm
also, although your influences are good, i wouldnt call any of them shoegaze

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 7,2010 8:08pm
I was gonna say.. Why weren't (m)any shoegaze bands listed?

toggletoggle post by Uh at Jul 7,2010 10:39pm
I'd like to see how Squarepusher would be incorporated with the rest of that...

anyways, I thought the whole wannabe-Isis trend already died.

Grow a beard and pick up bitchy, young art students at Starbucks about it.
