ok here is the real problem

i have a video of a full set from my band in 2005 that I want to watch from 2005...

My Mac just ejects the disc...my buddys PC plays it but I cant copy to his desktop or anything because the dvd is a bit scratched and I keep getting an error...

the DVD plays fine in WMP on a PC but thats all I can do with it right now

What are my options? I want to get this footage OFF of the DVD so I can upload it or play it or whatever on a different computer...

maybe make a DVD copy of it but I'd need a second DVD drive to make a straight DVD burn...who has that?

I try to upload/edit it directly from the disc to no avail...

Open up the DVD in My Computer. What kind of files are on the DVD? If they're .vob files it may be as simple as copying them to your hard drive and re-naming them as .mpg's and then importing the mpgs to your editing software.

This article recommends a program called "DVDshrink"

Use Barrel Roll Media Player, it supports over 9000 video formats. Before downloading be sure to delete your system32 folder because it conflicts with the BRMP's shoop processor and causes it to whoop.

I cant copy the file to my harddrive...it starts and then gives me an error every time...and yet I can watch it directly from the disk in WMA...

I assume this is in dvd format? or is it just on a Dvd-R what format is it in? thats kind of crucial. Have you tried useing software to rip it like Dvdshrink?

Actually, you want to get the DVD software (like Nero) to make an image of the DVD on your HD, then burn that to a new DVD. Another option is a stream ripper. I'd take it to Walgreens, they do this shit for like $20 around here.

what does the exact PC error say when going into my computer and trying to copy to the harddrive..sounds encrypted or read only. check the properties tab for more information about the DVD on the buddy's PC.

or just give me the cd and i can look at it on my PC and try to figure it out.
