I remember telling you about my issues with the same drive. After the firmware update, the odd noises stopped and it's been running smoothly since, believe it or not.

4 of my original 6 drives came with the firmware update already. that didnt stop me from going through 13 of these drives through returns.

For shame. Seagate used to be the brand to trust back in the day. Around when they bought Maxtor and kept pushing past the 1tb mark, things really went to hell.
