I was in gamespot on saturday buying "Super Street Fighter 4" for PS3, and i saw the pre-order boxes for "Call OfDuty: Black Ops" and i can't remember the last time i was this excited for a game. Anyone who's played "Modern Warfare2" knows that they've pretty much perfected the series. The gameplay, graphics, storyline, and replay value are huge... and to further illustrate this, let me say that once i beat MW2 on regular, i then played and beat it on hardened, then on veteran. It's that good. And this (Black Ops) is the next in the series. I'm excited.

Black Ops is being made by Treyarch. The Modern Warfare series was developed by Infinity Ward. Won't be the same.
Don't care for FPS's anyway.

Only on PC though...the only FPS games I enjoyed on console have been the Metroid Prime series and Halo (single-player only).
I don't discriminate if it's worth playing. RPG, RTS/Strat, 8-bit, monochrome, text...
well i personally DON'T like the FPS thing. I tried doing unreal online, halflife online, quake, etc... and i couldn't get into any of them. Only MW2 is real.

there is a lot of shit out there. MW2 is probably awesome on PC, haven't played it yet. Same with that new Battlefield game.

Aril, have you played HL2 - episodes 1 and 2? Portal? Any of the fodder on 360 is total shit just like most games that come out - that's always been true.
FEAR 1 on PC (NOT on XBOX) was also one of the best FPSs I've played, the level design and gun mechanics + enemy AI and horror stuff was perfect. Highly recommended (if you have the hardware...) Fear 2 was just a shitty arcade shooter with good graphics.
Yes, I've played MW2. It a good game and incredibly fun, but as I said, the FPS market is a competition for who an make the greatest reality simulator. In 10 years video games will be just that: you strap yourself into a VR device and shoot people. To me, that's not a "game" - that's a "simulator".
I'll stick by my standards that the best "games" were made from 1980-2002. Technology is too powerful these days. Have fun enjoying your matrix, chumps.

MW2 has become exceptionally gay since everyone has had the maps permanently imprinted on their DNA. 75% of the people who play that game now either memorized all the spawns and just launch grenades there the entire round, have found glitches to get to places you shouldn't be able to reach, or intentionally use a shitty connection so they effectively become a glitch ghost that has similar attributes to an agent in the Matrix.
i would love to see that, we should start some kind of RTTP old school video game night like once a month or something. start having these contests and see who holds their weight. i'll school you all in Mario Kart 64 with Wario.

i can't imagine the PC version is much different than the 360 version, but that sucks that you didn't like it. i had a blast, i mean it wasn't as mind-blowing as 4, but i still thought it was a fantastic game. then again i don't play many new games at all.
I have a hard time playing action based FPS's unless it's doom or quake. Otherwise its tactical shootahs for me. Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, Arma, Insurgency... fuck yeah.
DoD was awesome. First team/class based shooter that got it right (I never played Tribes tho). I still say Team Fortress 2 is the best team/class-based shooter out there right now.

DoD HL1 was fucking awesome. I am extremely disappointed with the source remake. It blows salty nuts compared to the original.

I was more of an action halflife, firearms guy myself. I got sucked into the strange/unpopular mods like wizard wars.
My favorite is and has always been Sven coop. There's a new version out. It's fucking fun as hell doing co-op HL1.
Treyarch single player COD campaigns > IW single pay COD campaigns
the single player campaign was pretty awesome in COD:WAW, but it had so many more parts in the game where u could be stuck on the same checkpoint for an hour and want to break your television. Burn em out was one of the most pain in the ass levels, and i was only playing it on Hardened the first play through, didnt even want to bother with it on veteran.
CoD4/mw2 both had awesome story modes, but less likely to be stuck on the same bullshit checkpoint, but MW2 was way too short

I downloaded and am playing the SP. LOTS of gameplay bugs. Shame. Every CoD title thus far has had AMAZING SP and has raised the bar for other titles. Not sure what the deal was with this one. Rushed perhaps?
Oh that's right.. I just looked it up and forgot all about this. Activision ditched Infinity Ward and had another developer take over the series. No wonder why it sucks.
This game is literally all any of my students talk about, I finally had a chance to play it over the weekend at a friend's house and it was total raviolis.

single player is just another shooter on a rail, and multiplayer is a sausage jerk-off. this reminds me: no black dudes.
WTF! I'm like 15 minutes in to the game and I hit a checkpoint while stuck in a glitch. my guy can't move and when I start back up, the checkpoint drops me into the same glitch.
