I've been wanting to start. Some IPA's or a Brown maybe. What was the first type you tried?

one of my buddies brewed a russian imperial stout. maybe i'm not much of a beer person but it was so black and strong that it was hard to drink.

Russians aren't known for their drinkability. Motor oil beers are meant to be enjoyed realll ssslllllooooowwwwwww

a few of my good friends brew beer and do a great job with it. i've never brewed beer, but i made mead that got rave reviews from all the drunks who tried it.

yup, me, the useful idiot singer, and Orgy did a batch of some super-duper high gravity shit that should come out at about 22%. We've also definitely done normal beers too, but that one was noteworthy... and probably almost ready to drink now.

I'm giving this a try for the first time tomorrow. Depending on my success the first time around, I'm looking to make a porter with a high alcohol content soon after. Anyone have any advice for a shameless novice?
