remember my thread a while ago about how my did ripped a letter in half addressed to me and it turned out concert tickets were in there? yea, it was for this show. luckily the ripped tickets got in with now problem. so here's a recap of the night.

Premonitions Of War- when i got to the club they were already playing but i imagine they had started not too long before. i'm not familiar with them. listenable but not a band that i would go out and buy their cd's or make it a point to see them live again. there was nothing too special about them i thought, though the sound was very good. their last song (don't know the name) kicked ass though.

Satyricon- again another band i don't really listen to. when they first came out the sound was not really good, there were some problems with mic and guitar levels as well, which eventually got fixed. they had awesome stage presence though. even the keyboardist, and keyboardists usually don't move. however their last 3 songs really came together, got a mosh pit started, ect. ect. and yea, Mother North is an awesome song. oh, and on a side note, their keyboardist has a hot bod.

Suffocation- do i really need to go into detail about how awesome they were? i will anyway. first off, 10 seconds into the first song, me and my friends started to get a pit going, and i fall down, as people pick me this one GIGANTIC dude fuckin puts me in a headlock and tells me to cut the shit and take it easy. i couldn't tell if he was security or not. the thing was though, i didn't do anything!!!!! i wasn't punching or kicking anybody, nothing extreme, i was doing what everyone else was doing, good old fashioned death metal pitting. for the rest of the song i was scared to move because of that guy. luckily he moved away from the crowd and i could continue on. i still can't figure out what i did. after he let me go i talked to the guy next to me and was like "what the fuck did i do??????" and he said i didn't do anything. it was so wierd. anyways, back to suffocation. probably the best sounding set i've ever heard from them (and i've seen them 4 times in the past year). to all guitarists out there, if u want a super fuckin heavy tone but still keep clarity so people can understand what you're playing, get an Ampeg guitar amp. i don't think ampeg makes guitar amps anymore but if you find a used one, BUY IT. suffocation did a great job mixing old songs with new songs, but unfortunately they still aren't doing anything off of Despise The Sun though. oh well, soon i hope. i think they're new bassist derek boyer is a great addition to the band. he has more energy playing, and he has a great fuckin tone. he knows his bass gear. Suffocation dominated all as usual.

Morbid Angel- dominated as always. i'm not going into detail with every song because you all know how awesome they are, how good they sound live, and we've all seen reviews of them on this board before. i do have to admit when they did songs off of Heretic they were much more listenable than the record itself (i think Heretic is a load of crap). i was really suprised with the end of their set though. last night after the Palladium show i took a look at Aaron's picture of the set list, but was very suprised when after Enshrined By Grace, MA came back on stage and played Chapel Of Ghouls. an awesome way to end the night.

now for some advice. this goes out to anybody. if you're going to crowd surf, DO NOT kick into the air. you're feet will end up hitting many people in the head, and one of them WILL be a big dude who will pound the shit out of you for doing said act.

Also, if you are going to go to a concert in New York City, where only about half of the people in attendance are white, and the rest are black/hispanic/asian, shouting "White Power" and "Kill the Coons" is not the smartest of ideas. needless to say, one of the neo-nazi-retards got jumped by roughly 8 hispanics during MA's set and got his ass HANDED TO HIM. it was a beautiful sight.

and now for some really cool news. before MA came on my friend Iris introduced me to George Torres (drummer for Dehumanized, ex-Skinless) and of course like everyone else has asked him i'm sure, i asked him when Dehumanized was getting back together. he told me they are in the works and plan on getting some shit out soon. we bullshitted for a little bit, and then i handed him a Kalopsia flyer and told him i'm the bassist. to which he responded, "we need a bassist." that's right, yours truly might actually end up doing session/permanent bass duties for DEHUMANIZED. i will keep you guys posted on that story as it progresses. on the train ride home i also met another drummer who is not in any bands, so of course me and matt (guitars/vocals for Kalopsia) gave him a demo and got all contact information. so hopefully this means Kalopsia will be able to start playing out finally . all in all, an awesome night.

the inside of it could be modded and is most likely.... i doubt you'd get that sound out of a stock ampeg.

i noticed that i barely heard any keyboard. and yea, that tone came from a stock ampeg. one of my guitarists tried out a used ampeg amp at Guitar Center and it was by far the best sounding distortion we've ever heard, and it was straight into the head
