My buddy and I were debating who the MOST depressing band is. We decided
on the Cure, because even if you're in a GREAT mood sitting down and
listening to all of Wish, etc... will have you feeling the funk regardless.

Now I have another interesting query: Who is the LEAST depressing band?
I'm talking lyrically, as well as musically. I wanna hear some serious
major keys, singalongs, and a good reason for some merry dancing!

My GF said the Dropkick Murphys, but while they have some really upbeat
tunes the lyrics are not necessarily upbeat. However, I gotta admit it's the best answer so far.

If you can, provide a youboob example since there's a good chance I
haven't heard your suggestion.

Bands that are upbeat and happy depress the living shit out of me, so in all honesty I'd say pornogrind bands are definitely the least depressing bands in the world. They assure me that I'm truly not the most insane person on this planet.

Doesn't have to be upbeat or happy, per se. I'm talking moreso a band or
album you'd throw on to cheer yourself up. My friend has offered up a GOOD one: Weird Al Yankovich.

Well, actually scratch my earlier statement anyway, I was just taking a sideways jab at a subgenre... anything I normally listen to cheers me up honestly. I wouldn't listen to a band if it made me feel sad or angry or confused because that's what pretty much everything else in the world does anyway. Music is the one place where it all makes sense, so if you've got any idea of my music tastes from reading this board, then you pretty much know what makes me happy.

There's too many bands with all different kinds of music. This debate would have no end.
Some could say Scott Joplin's ragtime compositions aren't depressing, others could say happy Trance music is the least.
It's the most subjective debate anyone could have.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Feb 27,2010 2:06pm
I think Parliment is my favorite suggestion so far. Do they have ANY songs that don't make you want to fuck, smoke, or at the very least jump up and down like a ritard?

The Offspring. Since someone showed me that Dexter Holland sounds exactly like Weird Al. Now every song by them makes me laugh instead of change the station.

ever been to a live show? so much funkin fun. each band member did like a 15-20 minute rediculous solo too.

Man, speaking of which, AC/DC.

And yeah, P-funk totally makes me black. But without all the hundreds of years of opression and the need for lotion.

So im gonna change my vote to I Believe in Miracles by THE RAMONES.

It's the same "depressive black metal" faggery that was half-interesting for about 10 minutes in 2003.
