This is THE BEST CIV ever and easy to get away with playing most of the day at work, it turns out.

Shit, the fist civ game almost made me flunk out of high school.

What makes this one so much better than IV? I didn't like IV that much for some reason.

civ games are all about presentation. i thought 4's interface was severely cluttered and the transfer to 3D felt uncomfortable. it was tough to tell exactly where your resources were going and combat was sort of a joke. 5's UI is totally redesigned, the transfer to a hex grid makes plotting land and moving easier to grasp, city-states are introduced which are different than empires and you have to deal with them seperately. the land looks a lot more believable, the special resources are more important, it just seems like you're able to control everything that goes on at once, finally. diplomacy actually works this time. it's not like they made the game easier or anything, civ 4 just felt too abstract.

check out AoW Shadow Magic after AOW1. very challenging but engrossing game. Let me know if you end up liking AoW and want to play online. Herugrim mike and I play sometimes and chris as well. Fun and epic as fuck.

how is AoW II? should i spring for the trilogy pack, or just get the first one...first one is only 6 bucks. i thought i got this before but i guess not.

i bought EUIII a while ago on sale, i'll try that out this week

AOW II is boring and was a bad follow up. Shadow magic was the real one. First one is untouchable. Best of the series.
