Yea, you was in the Himeliens fighting the hordes from Khitai and Vendhya right?

toggletoggle post by ancient master at Jan 1,2010 10:23pm

This was another top album of 2009, along with Canis Dirus - A Somber Wind From a Distant Shore, and Arckanum - ÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞ. '09 was a good year for Black Metal and Doom.

I dled the new Drudkh, nothing stands out but just as awesome as the last album

toggletoggle post by TheRidersofDoom  at Jan 17,2010 8:39am
But then again, I was thinking about this, I hate it when people talk about the best song on album. Yeah some songs will be better, but with metal anyways it seems like the whole album oftentimes is one piece just divided... at least Folkish Black metal stuff.

I never really pick favorite tracks, though I agree, some will always sound better than others. Albums should always be listened to in their entirety, in order to gain the full effect.

Personally I think this is the weakest drudkh release outside of the swan road. I like how they did a few things they've never done before, but honestly every drudkh release after autumn aurora has been somewhat disappointing to me. I like all their releases, but nothing in their catalogue tops AA

toggletoggle post by MikeOvDecrepitvde at Jan 17,2010 10:55am
I think it's their best album since Autumn Aurora. I even dug Songs of Grief and Solitude, which I guess a lot of people didn't like.

anti urban was much worse than this, also I like the drum production on this as compared to estrangement much more

toggletoggle post by BSV at Aug 23,2010 11:40pm
so, does this album have KILLER BASS on it ala the Estrangement album prior?

YES.

toggletoggle post by BSV at Aug 24,2010 10:50am
the bass on Estrangement is beyond fantastic. what lovely tone and elequent fretting. microcosmos is next on the list....

toggletoggle post by arktouros at Aug 24,2010 10:52am
i have it on LP and it sounds fucking amazing, i'll put it on next time you're around. there is a lot of subtle bass work on this album with clear tones.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 24,2010 10:55am
I relistened to this album again last week and liked it more. It may be because of the impending autumn. Still not as good as AA and FL though

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Aug 24,2010 1:07pm
Autumn Aurora i don't put above Blood In Our Wells, but Forgotten Legends is untouchable. i just listened to that last night during that rainstorm, epic rituals. faggot.

toggletoggle post by Slag NLI at Nov 5,2010 2:49pm
Gave this another chance. I have been listening to this non-stop this week. Def in top 3 Drudkh albums for me. Very melancholic.

I think I can honestly say that Drudkh is just another band to me now. Used to LOVE this band but they don't give me the same feeling anymore. Drudkh is like an ex gf that keeps coming back but gets fatter and fatter each time.

But she still gives a mean reacharound.

ha!

that's how i feel about Opeth. however i still worship the earlier material.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Nov 5,2010 3:24pm
actually that's how i feel about black metal in general.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Nov 5,2010 3:29pm
agreed.

toggletoggle post by goatcatabisk at Nov 5,2010 3:39pm
Listened to it maybe twice and I can't say I'm so into it. The guitar tone and the riffs just don't throttle my vas deferens in the way that their other records do. I'm certainly not writing them off, though. Have you fucks heard the Masters Hammer cover on the "Slavonic Chronicles" EP?!?! Beyond brilliant.

And Yeti- good call on Opeth. I used to be fanatical... drove out to Milwaukee for their first US show. Wouldn't cross the street to see them for free at this point. It's kinda like my 6th grade Beefaroni trauma, but that's a story for another time. And don't get me started on their fans. :ouchechillz::

Anything Masters Hanmer put out was top notch.

toggletoggle post by goatcatabisk at Nov 5,2010 4:04pm
While I would hesitate to call the "Slagry" album and a couple of the demos "top notch", Drudkh's interpretation (compare the two, that's definitely an interpretation) is of the highest caliber. "Ritual", however, is a masterpiece.
