when I look at it, I really try to remove the fact that I know anything about the personalities or achievements of any of the subjects, and just try to examine the photos for their aesthetic.

it sounds suuuuuper queer, but looking at it in a foreign way (which I'm guessing was Beste's motive) really made it an interesting view.

the pages with the scrawled logos and a few of the typed notes in the book are absolutely hilarious.

I try to look at all art forms in this same way. Otherwise i'm always jaded by the douchbaggery of said artists. This same thought process is what makes me not want to know lyrics... While i know that lyrics are actually part of the art form, i feel that they are the part that is USUALLY paid the least attention to. There are obviously exceptions where the lyrics are wonderful, even inspiring (Nick Cave)... but those are so rare that i prefer to just listen to the music.

agreed, i do the same thing. which is why i was kind of disappointed with it. taking black metal photos during the day in a town doesn't grasp how i feel about the music. i mean i understand the symbolism with him standing like that in society, but i expected way more Immortal type posing in vast forests and snowstorms.

plus, i fucking hate Nattefrost so i'm kind of biased.
