An update on facebook from Texas congressman Dr. Ron Paul...

"This is really outrageous - House leadership just announced that we will be voting on a $75 billion "Jobs" bill tomorrow - and we just got the legislation today."

That's the equivalent of you going to the bank to take out a mortgage and the lender giving you paper work and saying you have to sign it or not sign it in ten seconds.

Knowing congress, probably long enough.

I don't care if it was one sentence, the proper way congress works is by thinking the implications of legislation on the people through before they vote.

Back in the day they would spend months talking about the ramifications for a bill before voting on it.

I mean, this is almost as bad as when it tool us less than three months to pass the stimulus and thus put us in debt for the next three generations.

We have roughly 308 million people living in the US.

I'd like it if the government, instead of using money for failed proposals, gave each American a million dollars (a meager, when measured against our current bailouts, 308 or so million dollars) and see what kind of crazy shit people come up with.

Sure, it might make the dollar worth close to nothing, but most of our shit comes from other countries anyways, so maybe we could just tip a giant balance and become the country with the highest standard of living, ever. Or it'll be like that Chappelle's Show skit where the reparations are given out and crazy shit happens.

Either way, I'm into it, and think it'd be fun and hilarious, instead of the current headache we've lived with for the past few years.

There's some more info on the bill.

I really like the sneaky extension of unemployment benefits...

Also, does this logic of mine make sense. The government is going to give small buisnesses up to 250,000 to write off investments. Doesn't that mean people are going to make realllllly bad investments because hey, it's not their money.

Kinda like when the fed cuts rates and people make terrible decisions that seem good now, but not when the chickens come home to roost.

this country is doomed for complete failure unless the Fed Reserve is abolished. until i hear that news...things like this will not surprise me.

I read in times a lot of people in Gov want to get rid of it.

Here's some more info about what is in the bill

"Lawmakers have also mentioned extensions of healthcare benefits for the unemployed and higher levels of food stamps for low-income Americans."

Exactly what we need, food stamps for everyone...

It won't be abolished. It may be audited, but not abolished anytime soon. That is, unless we the people revolt.

And yea, the fed guards in my building have pistols.. And as you get closer to the money shredder, machine guns. If anyone is dumb enough to try to take it by force good luck haha

THIS......when they first started talking about the 700 billion or 3 trillion or 300 billion or whatever amounts all those bailouts were for, this is exactly what i thought. It doesnt even have to be a million. Give everyone a hundred thousand dollars, tax free. The rich won't mind, its a little extra cash for them that wont change their tax bracket, but the poor and the middle class......it would wipe out almost all debt. The recession would not have happened. The problem would be people currently on welfare going out and buying new cars with the money, but there would just have to be limits on how it could be spent.

so it went from 75 billion to....200 billion.
