AHHHHHHH...I can finally sleep in! Over 30 days tracking this big boy, and I finally got him. 175lbs., 8 points. Having him mounted and I'll be done butchering tomorrow. YAY!!!

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Dec 14,2009 1:09pm
What is this, Black Eyed Peas?

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Dec 14,2009 1:10pm
Actually, that's awesome. I would kill for some deer meat. Which I guess you did.

toggletoggle post by Hoser at Dec 14,2009 1:13pm
Yeah, he won't be playing Twister for a while. I have 130lbs. of meat that's just about ready. Once I finish the sausage, I'm done.

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Dec 14,2009 1:14pm
Do you age your meat?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 14,2009 1:15pm
Did you yell 'look out, he's coming right for us"

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Dec 14,2009 1:18pm
Share some over a pit flame and brewskies with me or you're a pissy

toggletoggle post by Hoser at Dec 14,2009 1:19pm
Yeah, I typically age from 4 days to about a week. BUT, since I'm having this one mounted I don't have much time. There's nothing worse thyan caping a frozen deer. I don't wanna put holes in him, so I only let this one rest for 3 days in a nice warm basement.

Oh well...anti-hunters are everywhere. If it weren't for hunting, your ass wouldn't even be here.

Don't talk to me, talk to your ancestors.

I embrace my heritage, I don't shun it. Nothing like a day in the woods to clear the senses, and the mind. It's like meditation for me, only not as gay.

Go hump someone else's leg you city dwelling homo.

All trolls on rttp are aril.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Dec 14,2009 1:28pm
Maybe they're descended from gatherers. Picking berries is for pussies.

toggletoggle post by Hoser at Dec 14,2009 1:28pm
For some odd reason, the only people that shun hunting are the one's that have never done it. Interesting observation on my part.

toggletoggle post by Hoser at Dec 14,2009 1:29pm
By the way Aril...I would be more than happy to hang out with you any day. Meat and booze....oh, and cigarrettes, and hookers.

toggletoggle post by arktouros at Dec 14,2009 1:30pm
Wow that mother fucker is big! Nice kill.

I'd mount that in my study next to my stuffed eagles.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Dec 14,2009 1:30pm
...hookers?

toggletoggle post by Hoser at Dec 14,2009 1:30pm
Oh, almost forgot...Rich Horror is also invited. He's rad. But, only if he brings me a copy of his latest Christmas album.

Ok, no hookers, but we'll need booze.

Thanks man...yeah he weighed in at 175lbs. Awful big boy. I saved every part of him with the exception of his digestive system. The hooves make great gun racks, coat hangars. The head will obviously be my memory of him forever, we're eating all of the meat. I also saved a section of the cape for a lamp table (cloth). He is going to great use. I also donate some of the meat to a local shelter for the hungry. It's a great program called hunters for the hungry. I try and use the whole animal, that way a life never goes to waste. I love hunting, but I also love making sure that the whole animal is used. One shot, one kill.

What does deer marrow taste like? I had cow marrow the other day for the first time and it was the most amazing stuff I've ever eaten.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 14,2009 1:40pm
Shoot deer, receive bacon.

I honestly don't know man. I have never tried the marrow, but I should give it a shot.

Over 30 days straight, man. I have literally tracked this deer over 50 miles. 2 nights spent in the woods, about 500 pairs of wool socks, and 2 sets of boots...all for that one shot. In the end, this has been the most epic hunt of my life. All starting in my back yard. I love life.

Yep. I'm on to snowshoe hare right now. We saw only 1 yesterday, but I couldn't get the shot. Fast little bastards.

I love how the troll is all butthurt even though Hoser is clearly eating this animal. It's not like he shot it in the head and then left it in the woods to rot.

The hippyposter is probably at McDonalds right now eating a cheeseburger and a'fussin and a'stewin over Hoser the barbarian.

I agree. But honestly, I hear so much shit from anti-hunters that it doesn't really phaze me anymore. Their cause is a lost cause. It is in the nature of humans to hunt and gather. If hunting makes me a weakling, then I'm a pussy. I shot this deer with a muzzle loader. I had only 1 bullet and I made it count. My family (to include my unborn daughter) will benefit from my hunt. We have meat on the table. If this upsets some homo, then let him/her be upset. I will never NOT hunt. As long as I can walk and have my senses, I will hunt.

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Dec 14,2009 2:17pm
Good for you. You're right about the lost cause thing. Fuck 'em in the nose.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Dec 14,2009 2:22pm
I think hunting an fishing is great. What I don't like, are those fucking poachers killing tigers and elephants for the illegal fur an ivory trade.

Deer are NOT oblivious, by the way. They are 1000 times more aware of their surroundings than we are. I shot that deer at approximately 40 yards, which means that I beat his ears, his eyes, and most of all, his nose. I also shot him from the ground, not a tree stand. Not that I have to justify myself to anyone, but I beat him at a game that is HIS game. I have also shot many with my bow, at about 20 yards. When you learn the art of hunting, you can call deer oblivious. Until then, you are a know nothing, ignorant fool with nothing more than a weak hearted opinion.

i appreciate that you actually eat the meat, some hunters don't.

toggletoggle post by Hoser at Dec 14,2009 2:43pm
A lot of big game hunters on TV like Jim Shockey and Mike Waddell don't eat the meat, but it does get donated to various food pantries. I found that out after I wrote to Craig Boddington (another big game guy) asking him where the meat from his kills went.
