this is another band that gets the "gay" label that i can't understand. Still Life and My Arms, Your Hearse are both about women and death.

I might not be into the last couple of records, but their musical accomplishments speak for themselves. People can bash this band all they want. They'll still be wrong, and Opeth will remain champs.

ack. i knew the loss of Peter Lindgren and Martin Lopez would spell the demise of this band. Watershed has lost a lot of appeal to me, it still has some very enjoyable moments but it lacks so much character. i knew the next step was going to be way more boring prog.

i think it's a good tune, but by no means one of their best.

You mean the loss of two guys that hadn't written any material in years? or in lopez's case, ever? Mikael would have written Watershed regardless of those two being in the band or not.

i don't know if it would have been as straightforward, especially with Lopez on drums. he had an incredible flair that is completely gone. agreed though, Watershed would still have been written however i think it would have been different. though vocally it still would be mostly singing.

I don't see why everybody is so critical of Martin Axenrot either, the guy is a monster of a drummer. His drums sound incredible on the new record too.

i just don't think he fits in Opeth. he is phenomenal in Bloodbath, and his other projects. however the flair is gone.

i like watershed a lot, but it's nothing to crud your undies over.

I prefer the original lineup.

Akerfeldt will always be Opeth. I might not be too enthusiastic about what he's writing these days, but the guy is a master composer. I've never heard anyone write or perform songs the way he does.

the one thing i'm banking on is that it won't sound nearly as good as it would have 10 years ago. his voice has really degraded, and the members that made the songs so intense are gone. and they fuck up some parts in older songs, when they do "The Night and the Silent Water" they always screw up the end, and that's the best part.

Overall this show was awesome, but Mikael's growls fucking SUCKED until "The Moor." Also, fuck people clapping to the rhythm of songs. I came to hear Opeth, not an off-beat human metronome.

Haha, I actually started doing that with some other kid getting as pissed off as I was, just to shit on the idiots clapping.

Highlight for me came when Mikael asked what other bands were on Peaceville. I then proceeded to yell Darkthrone and started a failed My Dying Bride chant which, surprisingly, about 3 other people partook in.

Aside from the deplorable crowd, this show was incredible.

If you told me 8 years ago that I could of gone to this show I would of shit my pants. Now I just cannot fathom putting up with such faggotry. Kudos to you guys for putting on your blinders and ignoring the crowd to see Morningrise material? that rules.
