umm better than sprint..esp where you travel to

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Nov 5,2009 5:56pm
expensive.

For a data user, leaving sprint is a bad move for you.

false.

Sprint roams onto Verizon network. If verizon gets service, your sprint phone will too.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Nov 5,2009 6:00pm
ye it's more $ BUT there is a promo now so aaron would wind up paying less and you are incorrect about sprint having better service...i forgot where you live...but we live in portsmouth and travel all over NH and we are with people who have verizon-they have service and we do not

A phone itself can make a difference in reception. It's not secret knowledge, sprint's unlimited roaming is purchased from verizon's network. Your friends might just have better radios in their phones.

I have NEVER found a situation where my GF with verizon had service and I didn't. This is over RI, MA, and NH. For the record, she's switching to Sprint.

And tell me the deal you get with verizon, and I'll show you a better way on sprint. I've been going over this for MONTHS with my GF, trying to get her to switch to save money.

Sprint service now makes ALL calls to ANY cell free, regardless of network. This makes even the cheapest of plans compete well with verizon. Also, remember sprint night and weekends start at 7, not 9 like verizon. Unlimited data? Sprint - $15. Verizon = $40 (last time I looked). Speed? Bandwith? Sprint wins with data, hands down.

For the record, though, the Droid looks hot. I'm a windows mobile geek, however. There's just so much more EVERYTHING available, most for free.

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Nov 5,2009 6:23pm
Droid looks good but I say wait because smartphones are dropping like it's nobody's business. I'm sure there will be a good Sprint one sooner or later. I'm waiting for the Pre or the iPhone to unlock. Or some really good Android phone to come out on T-Mobz.

i have been with sprint for 10+ years.
my plan: $60 - discounts + tax = $52
300 anytime minutes
nights at 7pm (+$5)
unlimited txt (+$10)
lowest data package (+$10)
when i roam, a phone call costs me $6 for just a couple minutes.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 5,2009 7:28pm
a sprint representative has run my bill multiple times and they cant save me anything. when i go out of major highways, sprint service dies. places it doesnt work:
my dad's house where his verizon works 100%.
my moms house
my radio statio
my gym (tmobile works here idk about verizon)
any place north of concord NH
at carinas families house

really, I am thinking of switching cause of that phone's screen resolution alone. the palm pre is great, but the screem doesnt show enough and you cant back up txts. since ive been typing with my winmo phone in this thread, my 1-month old 10th replacement phone has:
jumped out of the browser to my phone 3 times
missed a call from my mother
failed to do any txt correction
etc etc etc....

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Nov 5,2009 8:05pm
I recall reading how you got screwed on your phone replacement. That, and the fact that they upped the deductible from $50 to $100, I decided I'm going to cancel the insurance and hold out as long as I can before I upgrade. $7 a month X 2 years + $100 deductible= I could buy a new fucking phone. It seems that what happened to you is the norm, and refurbs suck balls.

Sprint plans include free roaming. I've never paid a penny, and have made many calls when my phone says I am roaming. Why doesn't yours include this?

I currently have a friends and family plan with 400 minutes, nights at 7, unlimited data, and 300 texts a month ( I don't need more). It comes to $72 a month, every month. I've never been surcharged, adjusted, or paid a minute extra. This is over 2+ years.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 5,2009 8:09pm
i do more than 1200 txts a month and only go over my minutes in dec/jan, but then i have fair and flexible which is like $5 for each 100 minutes extra.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 5,2009 8:11pm
i have gotten 10 free phones under the $4 repair part and 0 under the insurance.

I didn't have data package or text, but got 1000 anytime minutes for that price.

yeti- I <3 U!

Rev: I have a sprint phone, and I guess it's possible that my phone itself is garbage, but i don't get reception in about half the places i travel for work. (which is most of MA, and some of NH) My work pays for the line, otherwise i would definitely get a different one.

I had Verizon as my first carrier and I was VERY happy with them. I am also very happy with Sprint, but if I had my druthers I probably would not have left Verizon. Never had any real problems that weren't related to my specific cheapy phone, and most people I called also had Verizon so that ruled as nearly all my calls were free.

That was kinda jerky. For the record, you didn't dispute me at all. To dispute, you need two of the same phone on each plan. For example, if my treo didn't get service while a verizon treo did in the same spot? Of course. However, if you start paying attention to the people you know on the same network as you, you'll start to notice many times where some of you have service and some don't. Radios vary.

As for another valid argument against me, I've just discovered that Sprint's roaming partners vary from market to market. So while I roam onto verizon wherever I go, the Rev most likely ISN'T in NH.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 6,2009 9:56pm
if you look at my bill above, 2 minutes of roaming cost me like $1.20

Yes. I'm trying to figure out the "No Roaming ad-on" part. When I started my plan it was the Sprint PCS "Friends and Family" plan or something, and every plan included free roaming. It seems like the plans have changed since then, and I don't know for sure if the roaming is still included or not in the new plans?

What is your plan? Is it an extension of the same one you signed up with, or is it a newer plan?

If the piece of shit you bought (tytan), The touch pro, or many other of the hot new phones have taught us anything it is to wait a few months til people truly discover the limitations/virtues of the gear. ppcgeeks.com is your friend.

iPhones are retarded. Those phones still don't do half what my old fogey treo does, cost way too much STILL, and the goddamn plan costs you over $100 a month at MINIMUM.

I'll keep my cheap data plan and better phone with shitloads more apps that can usually be found FREE.

420 dude. my touch pro is gay as hell, but look at this.
http://www.intomobile.com/2009/06/22/andro...ouch-diamond-and-htc-touch-pro.html

I guess you can load the touch pro with android and then it runs it until you reboot. then it goes back to windows. neat.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Nov 6,2009 10:19pm
I prefer windows. It adds more functionality to my phone than any other feature. People just don't bother to tweak it. I have my own UI, can watch any flash videos, currently run 3 different browsers (opera, IE+, and skyfire), have literally five THOUSAND NES games loaded with full emulator and controls, and literally tons of other shit I could find just because windows mobile is so adaptable (and it can be found free!). All this on a phone that is like 5 years old! Some of the newest phones don't even have these features.

The only issue with windows mobile is windows mobile itself, the default setup and UI is gay gay gay gay.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Nov 6,2009 10:20pm
I wanted to wait a year and scoop up a touch pro 2, but the droid is pretty sexy. I want to wait and see if something similar with windows comes up on sprint in the next year.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 6,2009 10:21pm
I think that winmo is a cludge. nothing works right, it always freezes and any of the UI managers make all those problems worse.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 6,2009 10:23pm
it wouldn't come with windows... I want the droid to be on sprint.
my touch pro (which I got the 3rd one on 9/19/09) is starting to show the keyboard going again. g/t/r/e are all printing like 5 letters at once.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 6,2009 10:47pm
before o would go out an get a ew phone, i would probably try a custom winmo 6.5 rom on my phone.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 6,2009 10:49pm
also, winmo 6.0/6.2 pisses me off cause email doesnt work well. if you get a "cant send" pop up more than a couple times, the only way to recover is to delete the account and recreate it.

toggletoggle post by swamplorddvm  at Nov 6,2009 11:16pm

I got this droid from sprint but he turned on me.

I was just talking about the Droid Incredible. Though HTC's senseUI slows down my HTC Touch pro2 wicked bad. I want the Incredible with a keyboard and 4G. I think the only person with one is the poster known as futurebreed.

toggletoggle post by AlxNLI at May 3,2010 6:53pm
Just left the Sprint store with my 3rd touch pro replacement. 4th, if you count the time they replaced the lcd half of the phone. I saw a guy playing with an Incredible on the way over. It looked pretty snappy and the screen was sweet looking, but there's still no way I could ever type on that touch screen. Need that physical keyboard. The future should bring nice things.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 3,2010 7:00pm
ditto. though the incredilbe is verizon right now only.

i went through 3 touch pros and 7 moguls i think. the touch pro2 is awesome...ish, but the os kills it. i can never get it to answer a phone call, too many txt msg kill it, and the browsers suck for rttp.

Have you tried any of the custom roms at ppcgeeks? Those usually do the trick and make the phone work

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 3,2010 10:46pm
I haven't yet, but I'm seriously thinking of putting magicrom or energyrom on it. right now, the phone is almost unusable most of the time.

the Incredible is from HTC right?

Motorola's has the real keyboard...the OS is superb (extremely stable, easy to use) and the phone is FAST, no lag at all with any apps

the Eris has a ARM 528 MHz ARM 11 processor (which senseui kills)
the droid has a 555Mhz ARM A8 processor (same as the iphone/palm pre)
the incrdible has a 1Ghz snapdragon processor.
