Just got my rock and shock ticket for this. Fucking PSYCHED! I really wanted to go to NJ deathfest, but seeing Vitus outweighs seeing Evoken play for half an hour.
I hear Malcome Mcdowell is going to be there among others.
can't wait for this show. been trying to see type o negative for years, but I always miss them. this wont sell out will it?
nah I doubt it.
It's tough to say when that place has been the most packed. Probably during peak times at NEMHF. Dragonforce was up there too. Speaking of that, they're playing tonight...Wren are you going? haha
if anyone is interested i live no more than a 5 minute walk from the Palladium, there will be a pre-game gathering so i can get good and drunk without needing a mortgage to do so at the venue.
tony - if its cool evan and i will probly take u up on that. i know you said its cool if we park at ur place, but im sure we'll want to do some drinking beforehand too.
i know miller high life is the official beer of scaphism, so i'll bring the biggest size pack i can find!
anyone who lives in the Boston area who needs a ride to tony's house or the show let me know, be glad to help out. I can fit 3 more people in my car if you sit nice and snug :o)
Type O alone would be 30. St Vitus alone would be 20 maybe. God Dethroned tour alone would be 20. So yeah 35 is kinda a bargin, though still a bunch of cash.
some people charge 20 bucks per autograph. eat shit. i probably won't go to the festival either, its really just vendors and a few random other things. though if Type O does a signing, i'm there.
that's what the palladium site says...little steep but TypeO, St. Vitus, God Dethroned and Augury, that is a fantastic lineup.
There are a lot of other bands also I didn't mention because I just don't like them like Abigail Williams. But check it out you might see somenone that tickles your dingdong.

hey! what time are you leaving to go to Tony's and what time are you coming back? Might take you up on that offer!
wren, we will be in the boston area on our way to tony's around 7:00, 7:30 I'm guessing. we are leaving right after type o plays and heading back to tony's to get the car. we can give you a ride both ways if that works for you, just call me 617-893-2236 and let me know.
ok, took pictures at the convention. missed corbin bernsen and lois lane. malcolm macdowell was cool to see and the fish guy from hellboy... he is fucking huge.
augury is on stage right now. they sound even more like voivod live. those whispy guitars make me want to get my brain scanned.
i saw Type open for Godflesh and Danzig in 94. Me and my friends heckled the SHIT out of Type O, so much so that Peter pointed at us and wanted his fans to beat us up, but none of the vampires cared enough, it was classic
woe of tyrannts just played. they had a huge feedback sound right as they were doing their first song. all the music cut out comepletely. the sound never seemed to really recover from that. it did smell A LOT like weed as their set ended.
Abigale williams i thought was yet another black metal band band. They are also not a tenis player with a huge fanny. The CD is way too produced sounding. Live, it comes of like middle school god dethroned. There is just enough synth to make it not just a blistering black metal band. I think that is what is way over done on the CD. Im thinking about the grand grimoire as they play. Even some of the vocals could be off that CD.

fuck i'm going to regret not going. low on cash, hungover, and got females coming over. really only want to see Vitus. Type O fans drive me nuts, i hate those pits and usually get stepped on and pushed by fat dykes all night long.
God dethroned in my book can almost do no wrong. They have put out some of my favorite blackened songs ever. I didnt follow the latest tour news cause it was from "susan". I figured that was henry's wife or something. Boy was i wrong. They had a female guitarist that shredded circles around everyone and head banging the whole time. My only complaint is that they played all new songs. I saw "poison" on the set line and thought it was poison apple, but it was the newer song poison fog.
st vitus tore it the f up. they sounded so album perfect that i swear i could hear the vinyl crackling. though i didnt know wino didnt play guitar for them. he did make a pretty killer front man. it did take me 2 songs to realize that when he kicked, he wasnt kicking at me. he was kicking the mic chord out of his way. they ended with born too late that just wouldnt end. and dez came out to do the chorus on one of the songs. so good.
I stopped at taco bell. St. Vitus was the highlight by far of this whole show.
the Misfits Experience was good and all, but it is hard for me to take it serious. there is that whole "weren't there 3 indians last year" feeling like when the simpsons went to see the bonanza indians at the mall. All that said, Jerry plays his heart out, looks like he's lost in his own world, and doesn't break character on the stage no matter what is going on. He also drives the band so the band doesn't stop it's break neck speed through all misfits and blackflag songs. Very impressive.
The first time I saw type-o negative, I think I left early then. Today was no exception. I listened to the first 1/2 of the set, but really needed food and meds. I also looked at the set list and the songs I really wanted to hear were all going to be played way too close to 1am.
Oh, and during one early-on band (I think it may have been Augury, can't quite remember for sure), the green stage lights came on, and at the same time things suddenly smelled very minty.
Vitus: FUCKING RULED. These dudes were serious as shit about their craft. No "vintage" retro/throwback crap at all. DIRTY ASS FUCKING SCUMBAGS they were hahahaha and it was so goddamned awesome. Played the motherfuck out of their songs. I've been pretty familiar with their music for a while now, but never really thought to watch any of their or Wino's recent performances on YouTube or anything. That said, I kind of expected to see them almost "putting on a show" and- this is hard to express; what I'm really trying to say- really milking the whole throwback feeling of it, but nope... every single bit of their performance was as authentic and genuine as it must have been in the early 80s- and played by a bunch of dudes still stuck in the 70s, anyway. Honestly felt like I was at some sort of Biker club-sponsored County Fair, where the gang had St. Vitus play because they just love them. SO FUCKNG AWESOME.
Misfits- Like Rev, I also didn't expect to take them very seriously, since they are such a crazy version now of what they once were. All I can say is that Jerry Only DROVE that fucking band. By far, he was the life & energy of their performance, and there was a hell of a lot of said energy contained within. Totally have to give it up for Misfits last night. Lot of respect to them.
Type O- awesome as usual. Extremely pleased with their set list.

much like the Sheik...I only saw the last 3 bands.
Vitus fucking owned it. I hadn't seen them since they
opened for Black Flag in friggin 1984(maybe 86?) and
they were awesome. The Misfits were kind of a novelty
for me but fun to watch...Jerry Only definitely kept the
pedal to the metal and it was kind of weird to watch the
Black Flag dudes playin Misfits songs but it was cool to see.
Weirdly enough I thought the cover of "Thirsty and Miserable"
was pretty sucky though...
I walked on Type O...I thought it was a load of shit especially
after seeing such great metal band like St. Vitus.
awesome time, Type O never disappoints. Peter actually looked alive this time. the replacement keyboardist did his job, but he had monstrous shoes to fill. it just wasn't the same without Josh Silver. i don't even really remember what they played, i was hammered.
Kinda weird to think of Scott Warren fucking up. Maybe not having Dio on stage scared him?
he didn't really have any time to prepare at all, there are many intricacies to what Josh Silver does, and this was almost a last minute thing.
you'd think Josh would have picked a better time to study to be a paramedic than in the middle of a tour. i'd say thats a dick move but this is one of the "Four Dicks From Brooklyn" so i guess its ok..
