Om
With Six Organs of Admittance and Lichens

Om tours in support of their September release God is Good (Drag City), with their slow, heavy, hypnotic drone-rock. The bass-drums-vocals configuration provides for lumbering, dirge-like soundscapes, which are infused with monastic and Tibetan chanting. Also appearing are Six Organs of Admittance, the musical vehicle of guitarist Ben Chasny, who seems to worship at the altar of John Fahey, and Lichens, Robert Lowe’s immersive weaving of looping wordless vocals into sheets of drone.

Monday, October 12, 8 pm

$16/$19 general admission

This should be pretty awesome!

bump!

Kinda sucks that Chris is no longer the drummer, which gave them that Sleep authenticity. When they performed at the middle east upstairs and wouldn't stop playing, it was the greatest thing I've ever witnessed.

I hope they do something like that at this show haha.

Wouldn't put it past them... Al was spurting off some crazy Sufi/mystical wisdom and asking us all if we had pot and to spark that shit up. He also requested a few of us to grab him 3 shoots of vodka. I wasn't going to lose the spot up front, but burning one down in the venue indeed commenced.

Totally making a date with my bong, after work, and rocking out to Sleep's Jerusalem and then Om's Conference of the Birds. Thanks Wren!

my pleasure!

I'll probably be there, I'm interested in seeing Emil from Grails, drumming for Om.

Is it sold out? I might go mike.

toggletoggle post by mikeofdecrepitude at Oct 12,2009 1:38pm
I called the ICA up this morning and got my ticket, so I'm pretty sure they still have tickets. I think the ICA might have a high capacity.

Super bummed I missed Lichens, but the rest of the show was absolutely killer!

toggletoggle post by mikeofdecrepitude at Oct 13,2009 12:40am
At first I was skeptical because this was a seated show, but then Om performed and it was a very atmospheric set. Amazing show, and thanks for the extra couple of bucks, Wren. Their second live record is great, did you pick that up?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Oct 13,2009 12:44am
they ended already? om sold out.

toggletoggle post by mikeofdecrepitude at Oct 13,2009 12:58am
Heh, yeah, Al played by the rules this time.

Lichens performance with Om was indeed amazing, he has a powerful voice.

toggletoggle post by boblovesmusic   at Oct 13,2009 9:39am
I enjoyed Six Organs, but I can imagine that after Lichens they would be kinda lacking (I missed Lichens cus of stupid traffic from NH)
