Alright, I did a search and found now Acid Bath appreciation thread. not sure why, I know a bunch of you like them. Been one of my favorite bands for years..

Two Albums as Acid Bath - When the Kitestring Pops (1994) and Paegan Terrorism Tactics (1996)

Southern black/sludge/stoner metal at it's best. Perfect for the oncoming fall

Though I've known about these guys for years, over the last year or so I've become addicted. I have PTT and a collection of demos, I need to get When the Kitestring Pops. Great riffs and awesome vocals -- I love it when I find clean vocals that don't annoy the piss out of me. Too bad they only put out the two full lengths before bassist was killed.

Love "When the Kite String Pops"..... I saw them at the Rat in 94'? ( I think ) with Pungent Stench.... There were 30 people there and someone throwing baseballs in the club

the lyrics are some of the best i've ever read. my favorite line is in "Jezebel".

she screams bloody murder as they chop off her fingers so this is how it feels to die. BUT IT'S OK!!!!

I saw Dax Riggs at the Middle East in 2008 or so, and I was not impressed. His solo stuff doesn't really do anything for me.

Agents of Oblivion and (most) Deadboy and the Elephantmen do, though. I love the Agents of Oblivion album.. especially their version of Dead Girl.

opening track on that album:

toggletoggle post by Happy Hipster at Jul 4,2012 11:20am
Is there some way we can set up a notification system that informs as to the exact moment that old bands become hip again, I missed the bus on this one and a memo would have really helped. I ordered all of their albums on limited edition colored vinyls and t-shirts that I could find but I'm really behind the curve and I don't like that happening. kthnx.

toggletoggle post by trioxin245  at Jul 4,2012 2:36pm
I would go out on a limb here and say that Acid Bath is neither "old" nor "hip." The nu-metal comparison is not lost on me, but they are/were/always will be one of my favorite bands regardless.

toggletoggle post by Happy Hipster at Jul 4,2012 2:43pm
They weren't hip when they came out but now they are actually old enough to have retro hip cred in the hip metal world, which is why we need to network more about that so that people like me who need to be up on the hippest things aren't left in the dark again. They are very hip right now and I'll admit I was a bit behind on this trend.

toggletoggle post by trioxin245  at Jul 4,2012 2:49pm
Are they 'hip'? Guess I'm out of the loop. With the exception of this thread, and people I know who have like them for at least 10+ years, I pretty much never hear anyone mention Acid Bath.

toggletoggle post by Happy Hipster at Jul 4,2012 3:11pm
They haven't reached the hip levels of Sleep or Kyuss or Eyehategod in terms of that older sludgy stuff but if they did a proper reunion all of that would change.

I don't think theyre hip. It's just a lot of younger people on here discovering them for the first time. I don't hear a lot of Acid Bath talk outside RTTP.

yeah but most of you don't seem to run in very hip circles. Anything sludge doom stoner is hip nowadays especially if we all missed it the first time and can now say we were into it before everyone else got into it. I only heard about Acid Bath last week but since I ordered all of their merch I will soon prove that I'm their biggest fan at least amongst my friends which is all that really matters.

I'm not trying to be some elitist or something, it's just that to me, Acid Bath has always been almost on like the Pantera level, I thought everyone knew who they were. (and yes I am aware that they are nowhere near as big as Pantera)

I never got into EHG for some reason. Acid Bath was weird.. they were well known amongst a certain crowd, but always lacked the exposure to make them real big. I think it's because Rotten Records wasn't a larger label, like Metalblade or Roadrunner. It seems they made a resurgence for some reason, though.
