Though I've known about these guys for years, over the last year or so I've become addicted. I have PTT and a collection of demos, I need to get When the Kitestring Pops. Great riffs and awesome vocals -- I love it when I find clean vocals that don't annoy the piss out of me. Too bad they only put out the two full lengths before bassist was killed.
Love "When the Kite String Pops"..... I saw them at the Rat in 94'? ( I think ) with Pungent Stench.... There were 30 people there and someone throwing baseballs in the club
I get "If This is Hell Then I'm Lucky" stuck in my head pretty much every other week or so. Such a good song. I just realized it's actually called "Barefoot in the Dark" though.
WTKSP. PTT has awesome parts to it (I think the intro to Graveflower is one of my favorite song openings ever), but I enjoy WTKSP on the whole much more.
I can also see the comparison but a.) Not even close b.) They were before nu metal completely came into fruition as a sub-genre, and c.) LISTEN TO THE ALBUM.
I've listened to the album, the one posted above. I was referring specifically to that Jezebel song regarding sounding like nu-metal. I barely remember the rest of the album but I remember I didn't dig it at all.
I can fully appreciate this band and the nu-metal comparison.

Is there some way we can set up a notification system that informs as to the exact moment that old bands become hip again, I missed the bus on this one and a memo would have really helped. I ordered all of their albums on limited edition colored vinyls and t-shirts that I could find but I'm really behind the curve and I don't like that happening. kthnx.
I would go out on a limb here and say that Acid Bath is neither "old" nor "hip." The nu-metal comparison is not lost on me, but they are/were/always will be one of my favorite bands regardless.

They weren't hip when they came out but now they are actually old enough to have retro hip cred in the hip metal world, which is why we need to network more about that so that people like me who need to be up on the hippest things aren't left in the dark again. They are very hip right now and I'll admit I was a bit behind on this trend.

They haven't reached the hip levels of Sleep or Kyuss or Eyehategod in terms of that older sludgy stuff but if they did a proper reunion all of that would change.

yeah but most of you don't seem to run in very hip circles. Anything sludge doom stoner is hip nowadays especially if we all missed it the first time and can now say we were into it before everyone else got into it. I only heard about Acid Bath last week but since I ordered all of their merch I will soon prove that I'm their biggest fan at least amongst my friends which is all that really matters.
To tie this all in I heard about Acid Bath through word of mouth in the mid 90's when Pagan Terrorism Tactics came out. My friend Korey saw them open for DRI at the Rat. He's on that Acid Bath dvd. So pissed I missed that.
It was not as easy in VT as it is today to access metal through 98'-01'

I think if you were into that New Orleans scene in the mid 90's you knew acid bath. A lot of Eyehategod, Soilent Green, Crowbar, and Acid Bath in my tape deck during the mid 90's. But I don't know about every metal fan.

hah yea I'm pretty sure I started listening to EHG because Phil was wearing a 'dopesick' shirt in one of the videos.
I never got into EHG for some reason. Acid Bath was weird.. they were well known amongst a certain crowd, but always lacked the exposure to make them real big. I think it's because Rotten Records wasn't a larger label, like Metalblade or Roadrunner. It seems they made a resurgence for some reason, though.
