mindflair ( looked over german grindcore band REAL grindcore their new cd is amazing)

denak ( grindcore band thats so overlooked right now they did a split with the infamous grind/crust band dahmer)

Demilich- ( guttural froglike DM back from 1993 on repulse records. So hard to find their record now a days)

Baphomet ( early 90's NYDM kinda started a lot of the groove in death metal)

Repudilation ( had a cult following broke up before they could even get big in the scene . Great NYDM, influenced bands like devourment. Its pretty easy to find their disc but no one seems to care)

Nearly all of those bands only released tapes ( Xerion had one CD that was limited to 66 copies, and Moonblood released some vinyl records that sell for $300+ on Ebay ) and many are no longer available new. They can be downloaded or traded for, if you know where to look.

The others can be bought from one or more of the following:

Kolovorot: http://www.thepaganfront.com/oriana/releases.htm?English

Underrated bands...

Theory In Practice (not many people seem to know of them)
Signs Of Dying (Georgia's answer to Cryptopsy. RIP.)
Gaffed (Old school slam death featuring a Deaden member)
Deaden (since I mentioned them above, might as well list them too)
Gynecrology (weird technical/rockish death metal)
House of low culture (Aaron Turner rules)
Psycroptic (questionable vocals at some points, killer guitarwork and drumming)
Textures (DEI era Meshuggah type metal with light touches of swedish melodic metal, these guys are incredible)
The Kill (br00tal)
PsyOpus (being technical is fun)
Mortal Decay (one of the most unique brutal dm bands)
Boris (amazing stoner)
Buried At Sea (Like Isis?)
Necrophagist ( death metal guitar virtuoso. Doubt anyone could name a better guitarist than Muhameed Suicmez)
Anoxia (since their new album intense killings, their riffing is relentless)
Too many to list...

The guitarist/vocalist of Demilich said he was reforming the band "when the time is right." There's been a rumor that it's happening soon. They'd own 99% of death metal on the spot.

toggletoggle post by Paul FOD at Apr 7,2004 11:53am
unfortunatly many people forgot about Deaden probably one of the sickest DM bands that were around. First realease on UG was hymns of the sick by deaden and still the sickest along with molesting the decapitated by devourment. Real dark and violent feel to their music wrote about real sick shit had amazing song writing capabilities also.

I'll throw into this ego fest The Angelic Process (www.myspace.com/theangelicprocess), everyone (including me) slept on these guys when the record came out a few years ago and now most people are ignoring the reissues, which is a damn shame!. Also Professor Fate (http://www.myspace.com/professorfate1), which is Mick from Anaal Nathrakh pulling an Ulver or Manes. "The Violent" on their Myspace is ridiculous!

The production on the first two Rhapsody albums is crisp and bright, the songwriting was great and memorable, an there was no pervasive sense of 'overproduction'. Of course, this is also when hardly anyone outside Europe listened to them.

The rest of the albums were pretty much dull as fuck, overproduced, and continued to decline in quality, which culminated in the Symphony of Enchanted Lands II which was pretty much a disaster in my opinion, despite Christopher Lee's presence.
