New site? Maybe some day.
|
To give you perspective, this kick is shorter and smaller than the chair that Rusty sits on and plays Street Fighter 2 during practice |
|
Also this version replaces the "previous" version on our MySpace |
|
Honestly, I can't wait till we get that new shit up.
Those two songs are our strongest with this lineup yet. |

uhh, excuse me, I don't play Street Fighter during practice....I play Peggle....GET IT RIGHT! |
|
Most played games on my phone:
Bejeweled 2
Helicopter
Dragon Warrior for NES
Wrecking Crew for NES |
|
I tried playing Gunsmoke on my phone and it's impossible without a controller.
I need a USB game controller for my phone!!!! |
|
all I have is Peggle, Super Street Fighter 2, and World Poker Tour
WPT sucks though, wish I could get my money back for it |
|
i like that you guys no longer need to give anyone "credit" for songs on myspace. pretenders. |
|
Erik PRETENDING to be Jimbo PRETENDING to be Mike PRETENDING to be Erik
whoa... |
|
Honestly, I think those recordings have the best quality from you I've heard. Everything sounds super raw, and the drums have a very dense quality to them. Sounds heavier. |
|
Erik has a very good sense of groove and how to make a part jump out. We're working to get him to be faster but honestly, I like his style overall and am happy with what he can do. He's very versatile and has a good ear, so it's just a matter of playing the songs 9,000,000 times till we can all agree on how they should go.
I'm never opposed to rewriting songs for the drummer we have and not the one we wish we had, I suppose there's just a few things I am set on.
All and all, I think these recordings mark a good step in the right direction. The record is definitely going to be great, I feel confident about that. |
|
Sounds great, guys.
While Erik's strengths and limitations may take a little bit of the blasty grind feel of it out, I think it opens up a realm for a lot more creativity. Looking forward to the next era. Keep it up! |
|
zen erik, way to pretend to be jimbo pretending to be mike.
pictures of you, pictures of me |
|
Simpsons did it!
Lisa needs braces.
(sounds fantaboulous btw) |
|
we should call one of the new songs DENTAL PLAN! |
|
nick these recordings sound ridiculously better than what i mastered for you. there is so much more presence to everything. i want to hear more guitar though. how do you have the kick EQed?
i'll hook you guys up with some work since it took me 6 years to finish that last song for you, if you like |
|
That's actually really awesome, Matt. If you're down we're down. We'll be recording a proper demo soon, maybe you can just do a song off of that. We'll talk, and thanks! |
|
that is a nice sounding snare |

I used one of the generic settings in Logic. I'm not really a recording expert or anything. Guitar could use some multi-tracking, but it was just live practice.
By the way Nick + Rusty, you guys interested in trying some demos with old school jazz/rock production? Probably not for the album, but I'd be interested in doing a demo with mono and stereo mixes of like 4 or 5 songs. Mono being...mono. The stereo mixes being odd shit like having the drums on the left, guitar in the center, vocals on the right. Just seems like no modern rock or metal recordings utilize this style. Maybe for a good reason, but it could be fun. |

Eames 5" x 14" Master Model Snare
15 plies of birch (5/8")
http://www.eamesdrumshells.com/
The shop is in Saugus, and it's 1 guy that's been at it since the 60s or 70s. He makes the shells himself and cuts the edges on a cylindrical lathe. Glad my friend told me about Eames because the last company I dealt with was a disaster.
If anyone here is interested, you can stop by his shop and play a bunch of different kits. Some of which are 30+ years old. And the prices are actually pretty low even compared to large drum makers like Pearl, DW, Tama, etc. |

* Pretty much guaranteed that this wouldn't produce anything lulzy anyway, if you called this faggot and tried to troll him over the phone, either he wouldn't get it, or he would just scream some crunk shit until you were the one who hung up. The only real way to deal with the Brokencyde plague is with real physical violence, its time we all did our part.

I went ahead and made two alternative stereo mixes of "I Live With Kings".
Let me know if you're into this idea for a demo. I like the results.
First mix:
Snare + Rusty panned far left. Overheads and toms panned 75% left. Nick panned 75% right. Bass drum far right.

Second Mix:
Drums far left. Rusty center. Nick far right. Also boosted the guitar and vocal levels a little bit in this mix.
